Fantastic experience: Unequivocally stellar..aka Lonestar Travel. From the time my husband and I landed to 19 days solo I was prioritized. protected, and blown away by the experience. People usually excel at one thing sometimes two and then they start digitizing down but not with Donna Alkamari. I don’t know how I landed the president of this company to be my travel agent but I did. Donna immediately knew the type of experience I was after and was able to provide for any type of assistance I needed no matter what time of morning I called. Her title needs to be Elite Travel Concierge. She allowed me to have my days where I was going to plan it myself that were completely disastrous to those days that she had planned that went off without a hitch. My husband and my friends will use her again and again. Eight days with my husband of which 19 days I was solo and not once was I worried not once was I disappointed and my expectations were at a high high bar. She’s the person who I trust for all excursions moving forward.

Fantastic experience: Lone Star Travel is by far the best travel agency that you can use! This is our 3rd time using Lone Star/Donna & Cheryl. We have our favorite resort (Valentin Imperial) that we've gone to now, twice and going on our 3rd time this Nov. Donna/Cheryl are very responsive, know ALL the places to travel, answer ALL questions in a timely manner, super professional, friendly. accommodating, and the list goes on. Fantastic experience: Donna and her staff were outstanding at finding us a place that wasn't a long flight and met all of the things we wanted from good food to great service. The resort was fantastic. First time we've ever used a travel agency before and the experience was top notch. Fantastic experience: I reached out to Donna and asked for her expertise in helping us plan a Cruise to Alaska as we had never cruised before. Let’s just say she knocked it out of the park! Having used Donna on past trips she has kept up with our likes & dislikes. She highly recommended this new ship and found us a great deal. We cruised on the Princess Discovery for 7 days. Our room location Donna selected was perfectly located on mid ship. Room had adjoining balconies for us to share with friends . Easy access to elevators and stairs but we mostly chose stairs as it was only a few flights up or down from where we needed to go. All staff was amazing and friendly. The Crew and housekeepers had ship and rooms super clean, to bartenders remembering how we liked our Margs made , to servers calling us by name when delivering, to guest services going above and beyond to help us with our specialty dinner reservations working around our excursion times. Fantastic experience: Lone Star Travel in McKinney, Texas..... Every once in a while you run in to an Angel. That would be Donna at Lone Star Travel Agency in McKinney, Tx. When someone as far away as Wisconsin thinks she is the best....enough said. She makes you feel that you are a close friend and explains everything, and takes the worry out of traveling. Fantastic experience: Lone Star Travel provided much needed assistance for planning a destination wedding in Mexico for about 40+ people. Donna was easy to work with. Set up an event specific web page so that all of the guests could book their own travel. While we selected the resort and planned the actual wedding, she was that needed "extra" to assist with communication with the resort and answer any questions that came up. Would highly recommend and use again if I had to do it all over.

Fantastic experience: We are super grateful for Donna! Her services are by far the best. What makes the difference is all of the information sent to prepare us for the road ahead. The online declaration form, the mobile passport app, and the airport lounge option (Club Mobay) that includes a departure lounge complete with food, open bar and free WIFI with comfortable seating, were all stellar recommendations that made our trip smoother. Although we were too late to book with Club Mobay, we know for next time we cannot drag our feet on reserving this accommodation. Donna advised that we don’t wait long to book this option, and she was absolutely right! However, the online maneuvers she sent that we ultimately utilized, took a lot of stress out of transitioning from one situation to another. We thank her for the intentionality! She is more than a booking agent. She is all about the door to door experience. Some other members of my party booked with a different travel agent and didn’t know anything about the above mentioned travel tips (and more) that Donna ensured we had before departure. Jamaica was such an AMAZING CULTURAL EXPERIENCE! We definitely want to visit again! Do not hesitate to use Donna for your travel experience! We have used her twice, and have another trip booked for this summer as well.

Fantastic experience: Donna was super easy to work with and offered suggestions when asked. She has traveled all over the world and shared her experiences with resorts on Facebook so when she said the Valentin Imperial Maya was one of her favorites we booked it immediately. We did have a hiccup due to my work schedule and she was able to change our dates without issues. Communicated with us about price changes to make sure we were good with them (expected since we changed them to December). Our travel to and from Mexican Riviera was so smooth-she told us exactly what we needed to do with instructions via email to make travel SUPER EASY AND SMOOTH! Fantastic experience: We used Donna AKA Lone Star Travel for our what was supposed to be our honeymoon April of 2020…Covid it and we were only allowed to reschedule our date to June 2020 at the time. June rolled around and it still wasn’t safe to travel. Donna worked her tail off to get us our large refund, and called to keep us updated on what was happening almost daily. Flash forward to May of 2022, we decided we want to have the honeymoon trip we never got. We reached out to Donna again, because of the way she took care of us before. She booked us a FANTASTIC all Inclusive resort in Mexico. She emailed us a couple days prior and gave us all the tips and tricks to cut time at the airport/customs. I can’t say enough good things! We will always use her for future trips!

Positive experience: Called Friday was reached out to on Tuesday. Not sure if your liking for a fast booking they aren't it. Was also told what in wanted Disney was booked out no tickets.

Fantastic experience: After a really difficult year my son wanted to take me away for my birthday and decided on Cabo. Fantastic experience: We originally had a trip planned for the middle of summer at a new resort. Then Covid hit, the resort was not completed and no one could travel. Without missing a beat Donna rescheduled our flights, resorts, sorted out everything without us having to do anything. We had a great time at Live Aqua in Cancun. The staff were amazing and it was such a fun trip. All of the work she put in for us to have the best flights, amenities, and rooms really showed, and with such affordable prices. Fantastic experience: From Mart & Tonya: Donna, I just wanted to send you this note, thanking you for another extraordinary vacation. The Dominican Republic anniversary trip was by far our favorite getaway. The accommodations were wonderful, the VIP airport reception that got us both in and out with out delay or confusion, the food at the hotel, just everything was wonderful and above expectations. The rooms were also great, and the views were unbelievable. I also completely agree we were on the right side of the hotel to get the most sun. Fantastic experience: Found Lonestar Travel via Google search. I sent a brief email to Donna with what we wanted for dates, budget, and atmosphere. Within just a few hours, I had a quote for 4 different locations. Being an over-planner by nature, I had lots of questions that I emailed Donna at all times of the day before and after booking. She always provided thorough answers within a few hours. The trip itself was unforgettable. I would use Lone Star Travel again without hesitation.

Negative experience: I contacted Donna about planning an upcoming trip for us and we had a brief conversation about what we'd like. I've contacted her twice over that last three weeks since our initial conversation and haven't heard anything back, very unprofessional. Edited to add the rest of the conversation since Donna likes to leave information out. We were more than open to hotels and requested such service and sent a follow up email. Pictures added below. Fantastic experience: We can't say enough about Lone Star Travel. Donna booked everything for us from airline tickets to transportation to and from hotel. El Dorado Casita Royale in Cancun was wonderful. Adult only resort with pool in front of each room. The staff was outstanding. The resort was spotless, not even a leaf on the ground. Fantastic experience: My husband and I used Donna last year for the first time to plan our vacation to Riviera Maya. It was our first all-inclusive, adults only, and our first time back to Mexico in over 30 years. She understood our desire for gourmet food and we were thrilled with her choice. We loved where we stayed, but our first night, there was an issue with noise from a wedding being held outside our room. When we heard there was a another wedding going to happen our second night, we tried to get a new room on our own, but couldn't, so we called Donna, who spoke to her contacts at the Hotel, and not only did she get us a new room, but an upgrade to the most beautiful ocean view suite I have ever been in. We booked the same trip a couple months ago, and the week before our arrival, Donna emailed us that she already reached out to her contact at the Hotel to request a quiet room for us. Even though we understood there was no guarantee we would get into the "quiet" building, we appreciated the extra steps she took on our behalf. Unfortunately, there was an unexpected death that precluded us from taking this trip. We had purchased the trip insurance that Donna recommended, so we emailed Donna, and she immediately canceled the trip, air, etc, and we were refunded the entire cost of the trip, less the insurance cost. Donna is a professional. I like that she has been to these places, knows people at these places, and handles any situation for her clients that might arise. We highly recommend using Donna for your travel plans. Thank you, Donna.

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful trip. The room was amazing, especially the balcony! Such great views and so very comfortable. We spent a lot of time there in the early evenings.We even had dinner out there our first night. The food was exemplary. Even the room service food was good. I think Unico has the best Salmon I have ever eaten. It melted in my mouth. There was a nice long beach in either directions so we could take our beloved stroll down the beach. There was a section on the beach without rocks so we could swim to our hearts desire. Russell and I always know that whatever resort we choose it will be a wonderful trip because of your assistance. We know we will be in a beautiful hotel that meets all our requirements and has an amazing beach, not to mention you always send us to places with the best food! Ann

Fantastic experience: Donna helped plan and pick out our Honeymoon trip. It was relaxing, perfect weather all week, beautiful and everything we could have asked for. Neither one of us had done an all inclusive before, but are definitely already thinking about another one. Excellence El Carmen in Punta Cana had everything we wanted. Everyone was very friendly everyday all day. We did not do any excursions as we did not want to take away almost a full day of relaxation, we did go parasailing and rented a personal speed boat (same trip) which was the only time we left the resort. The room was perfect, bigger than what we needed but it was our honeymoon and I plan on this being a one time deal lol. Just wanted to say thank you to Donna for setting this up for us. I am not sure how we could have ever picked a resort with just doing research online as the pictures did not do justice. Thank you again and you will be my first point of contact when we decide on our next trip together.

It was late on a Friday night and Donna not only got us another flight to keep our vacation plans in tact, but helped with some suprises along the way. Fantastic experience: Donna has been our agent now since 2016, and she never disappoints. She's organized at least 5 major trips for us, and we've never had an issue. The hotels are very well picked, the transfers to/from the airport are always perfect, and the tours and supporting activities are exactly what we're looking for. All I have to do up front is provide destination details and a budget, and then she always puts together the best trip. Most recently, she built a trip for over 2 weeks for my wife and I at various cities along the Mediterranean coast, and it had everything we were looking for. Fantastic experience: Our 72 Destination wedding guests had a fabulous time at our June 15th 2018 wedding in Playa Del Carmen. Donna and Cheryl helped with all our bookings and they did awesome. They worked with us granted our wedding wishes along the way. My guests felt so special and welcome by everyone. Some of our wedding guests were a little hard to handle at times but Donna and Cheryl tackled all hurdles and remained as sweet and helpful as possible. These ladies were available during crazy times such as late evening or during the weekend and promptly answered any call or email. Fantastic experience: I found Donna on a Google search on a Saturday. I called and left a voicemail, not expecting a call back until Monday. She called back just a few moment later. She asked several questions about what I was looking for, budget, etc. About an hour later, I had about 5 destinations to choose from that were within my budget. She gave me several days to decide without pressure. When we selected our destination, The Royal, in Playa Del Carmen, she took care of each and every detail. About 2 weeks prior to our trip, Donna sent a travel packet with every detail, and a helpful fact sheet about the Cancun Airport. So detailed, she even told us what our driver would be wearing! This really helped relieve any stress and concern about traveling to Mexico. Our driver was with Lomas Travel and was so friendly. When we made it to The Royal, we were greeted like kings and queens. The resort was absolutely amazing! Great location, right on the beach, and a block from 5th Ave, which is famous for shopping. The food and beverages where to die for. There was never a time that I went with out a tasty beverage in hand-the service was fantastic! We also booked two excursions with Lomas Travel. Well worth every penny. They got us to and from the excursion safely and with ease. We never had to worry about how we were getting back to the resort. On that note, there was never a time in Playa Del Carmen where I felt uneasy. With the bad wrap it has gotten here lately, we were concerned about travelling there. Even when we ventured off the resort, we felt safe. I would feel comfortable taking my children to visit. We will definitely go back! I will never book another trip on my own. From now on, I will use Donna for her expertise! It was by far the easiest and stress free trip my husband and I have ever taken!!

Fantastic experience: I found Donna through a local Facebook Group site and she came highly recommended and now I know why! Every single detail of mine and my husbands honeymoon was absolutely perfect! She explained everything in detail and we had zero questions due to the extreme detail of the whole trip. Fantastic experience: Donna is AWESOME!! She took care of every aspect from booking the trip to checking out of the hotel. Even checked up during our trip to see how everything was going. My husband and I stayed at The Royal in Playa del Carmen last week and we could not have imagined anything better for our Honeymoon! Everything was perfect. The staff is warm, friendly and most accommodating. The restaurants are to die for, we even tried a few at the resort next door that we had access to. The pool was awesome and so much fun. We went to the lobby show every night after dinner. We traveled to Tulum and Xel-Ha on our last day, which was just the cherry on top to an already perfect stay! We will definitely be booking again for 2018!!!

Fantastic experience: Donna planned a trip to Maui for us in April 2017. it was absolutely amazing! We loved every minute of it! The hotel location was great. Amazing snorkeling right off our hotel beach. swam with turtles, tons of fish and an octopus right off our beach! I would recommend staying there again and would recommend Donna in a heartbeat!

Fantastic experience: I've worked with Donna twice now and she's been a god send! First time, I had to switch a passenger last minute and she was able to do this without me worrying ! Where she booked us was beautiful, and we had no issues. Second time I had to cancel due to medical issues and she was able to get my refund and call everyone for me without hassle! Fantastic experience: We have nothing but the very best to say about Donna and her services!! We used her to book our dream honeymoon to Italy - and it really was a dream come true!! Every detail, from the driving services to the use of porters for luggage, was arranged to the T. The hotels were stunning, in the best locations, & the amenities were a bonus. The added tips in each city for our custom tour were also very helpful, as well as the detailed itinerary for each trip - e.g., "you need a taxi to get to __ - it will take __ minutes" - and it was SO helpful!! Negative experience: The only reason I created this profile was to write this review. When I came across Donna’s site while looking for a travel agent to help us book our destination wedding, I became very excited. Not only was she local and had a ton of experience traveling but she had great reviews. Unfortunately that was not our experience. While she did provide us with some good tips, resort information and advice in the beginning, once we expressed that we did not want anything lavish and were hoping to be cost effective for our guests, I feel from then on she began to show less and less interest in working with us. In our email exchanges she would respond without even answering my questions, like she didn't even read my email or care what I was asking. I understand pricing is tricky with these types of things, but we needed some guidance as this was our first time with something like this, and supposedly Donna's an expert in these situations. She was awful at providing me with even just an estimate to look at. All we wanted was to have some idea of what the pricing could look like for our guests, which we ended up having to go through each resort ourselves and do a rough calculation, since she would not help us. I had to ask about 3 times before she finally responded with some unspecific and barely helpful numbers about what the discount rate could look like. In our last email exchange, I thanked her for her response (despite her obvious lack of concern and effort) and asked her to see if a specific resort was available for the date we had set and what the deposit was. SHE NEVER RESPONDED. Extremely rude and unprofessional to just not respond, especially with something that she informed us should be a priority in choosing the resort. We had met with her in person AND exchanged almost 20 emails with her prior so a complete non-response was absolutely negligent and disrespectful.

Fantastic experience: Donna helped us arrange our wedding at The Royal in Playa del Carmen and everything couldn't have gone any better. We had over 40 guests attend with us and she personally booked every couple. We even had a few bad weather issues and she worked diligently and communicated with everyone to get them rescheduled and everyone made it in time! She booked us at Secrets Maroma - Playa Del Carmen (Adults only - all inclusive)! Everything from our flight to check-in was perfect! The rehearsal dinner was yesterday on the beach, and they did a fantastic job. They have really tried to work with us the onsite wedding coordinator has been extremely attentive to the details of the whole process. We are extremely pleased with the way it’s turning out so far, they’ve made everything work so far, this is the kind of service I expected from them and you!
