Fantastic experience: First time doing this type of a vacation and my daughter and I absolutely LOVED IT! Macs was extremely helpful from the very beginning - before we even made our reservation. The accommodations were wonderful and just as described. The recommended sites/attractions were amazing and we loved the freedom of the self-guided tour that allowed us to add stops along the way. The navigation was new to me and was very thankful to have my daughter with me as she knew how to read the directions - so my 1 recommendation...practice using navigation at home. The Portugal Sintra to Cascais Adventure was just wonderful - going from a village of palaces and castles down to the ocean and quaint towns. You walk through hills and forests, across streams and by the ocean. We went in December so it was the wet season which made for a couple days of really tough walks but that just added to the adventure. Cant wait for our next Macs Adventure

Fantastic experience: Macs Adventure is a great way for active travelers to deep dive into region. We have just completed a fourth trip using Macs, this time exploring the Costa Brava on the Mediterranean coast of Catalonia. That we chose Macs after previous trips to Tuscany, the Dordogne, and Scotland, is a testament to the awesome locations, seamless directions, and delightful accommodations they provide. We look forward to trip number five and beyond, as long as our legs will carry us.

Fantastic experience: Exceptional support planning the bicycle trip and superb logistical support during the actual trip (our luggage was always waiting for us at our destination for the day). Airport pick up and drop off at the end of our adventure went smoothly. The Trek rental bikes looked new and were outfitted with two panniers in the back and a handlebar bag.

Fantastic experience: Grand Tour of Scotland: Rail & Hike - 13 days My sister and I booked this trip with MACS Adventure for the last 2 weeks of September 2025. We are fit and active 60- and 63-year-olds and found the trip just right - not too easy, not too much. We had cool but decent weather and, thankfully, no midges (bugs)! Layer up and be prepared for anything: rain/wind/shine. The hotels and BnBs were all lovely, the train and car transport worked flawlessly. The App worked great too. We pre-booked many of our evening meals which was worth it as many of the good spots are very busy even in late September. All up, we loved it, and would do it again (except that there are so many other places calling!).

Fantastic experience: Four years, four Mac's travel adventures! Each one of them special in their own way and every detail taken care of by Mac's. A truly professional operation. We'll be back for number five next year!

Fantastic experience: Mac’s adventures really came through with a seamless and informed travel package. We received updates regarding our trip periodically and up to the week before departure. Our accommodations were great and we knew what to expect along the way. Will definitely travel with this company again in the future!

Fantastic experience: We just completed a terrific adventure from Bavaria to the South Tyrol, crossing from Germany into Austria, then ending in Merano, Italy. Gorgeous views!

MACS took care of every detail, from luggage, to accommodations and excellent navigation through the app. All we had to do was show up and enjoy. I recommend this company for anyone looking for an adventure without the hassle and stress of logistics. Affordable and worth every penny!

Fantastic experience: Corsica: Mountain Trails to the Sea 7 days. This is second trip using Macs. First was Canary Islands. Came back for this package because of good experience. Not disappointed. All arrangements were executed without flaw. Transport on time. Reservations in place. This particular tour is challenging. I think it is a bit under rated as far as difficulty. Many stretches involve serious bouldering and careful route finding. (Trails are well blazed, but sometimes the terrain makes it hard to locate them.) One route turn we never found after backtracking and searching, so took an alternate route. At least one of the elevation profiles was wrong re distance. Contains some absolutely gorgeous terrain and views. We were fortunate to have wonderful weather, Early September. This could be a hot hike in summer. Shoulder seasons, much better. (Snow in winter very possible and likely.)

Fantastic experience: I did an independent trek through Mac’s and they set everything up perfectly for me and my hiking partner. Everything was seamless and well planned out and, using their app, we had downloaded maps that showed exactly where we were on the route. Leading up to the trip, I had a number of questions and the Mac’s representatives were on top of everything. The price was fair, the trip was great, they are on top of their game and I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I have gone on 3 Macs Adventures hiking tours. The last - Lucerne's Lakes and Mountains - was the best but all have been really wonderful experiences. You need to choose when to go carefully, but the organization of the tours is terrific, they have a great app for hiking and presumably for other activities, and we have really liked the accommodations.

Fantastic experience: We spent a delightful days on the Cotswold to the Cornwall Coast adventure. The trip did not disappoint! The walks were mostly well-marked and so varied--from quintessential small towns, to active pastures, to woodlands, to coastal cliffs, it was a magical trip. Do remember to take your rain gear and enjoy waiting out any storms in a tea shop or local pub! Macs always comes through with a terrific app, wonderful accommodations, and fun time. This was my 9th trip and am happily planning my 10th for next Spring!

Positive experience: We really enjoyed our trip “Highlights of the Bernese Oberland”. The hotels were all good (especially in Wengen). The app was easy to use and very helpful. The only warning I would pose to others considering the suggested hikes (specifically Murren to Lauterbrunnen and especially Lauterbrunnen to Wengen) is to look carefully at the elevation rise or fall and the length of the hike. There were times when Macs rated the hike as “easy to moderate” when it was clearly “moderate to difficult”. We found this a bit too late. We should have known the red-white-red were a warning, but we didn’t. Also Google AI rated the hike as difficult. Lesson learned. It was fine for us because we are in good shape but others with possible health problems could be putting themselves at risk. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our trip. Unbelievable scenery!

Fantastic experience: Just got back from Best of the Bernese Oberland, and it somehow exceeded our high expectations. Macs Adventure's service was outstanding. They provide downloadable trail maps with detailed instructions (e.g., "at .7 kilometers the trail will go behind a barn...") and also included info like specifically how to get there, what level of difficulty to expect, and where you could, or couldn't, find food along the way. We also appreciated the suggested modifications that allowed us to shorten or lengthen a hike based on how we were feeling. The accommodations were terrific, particularly the Hotel Edelweiss in Murren with its incredible views. The cost was very reasonable for the quality of service we received. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Excellent help with trip hiking in Alps in Bernese Oberland area. They handled hotel reservations, transfers of luggage, and gave us awesome app that had all the hiking options available with GPS tracking, SMS notifications of upcoming sights or telling you that you went off trail, etc. We will definitely use them again for our next similar adventure.

Fantastic experience: A hiking friend recommended Macs to us. As bicycle tour operators for more than 30 plus years, we were impressed with the Macs' process. We appreciated the flexibility to build in a few extra days here and there to soak up more of the local culture; ability to provide input regarding lodging, etc. All arrangements were done primarily online and seamless. Once we committed, we received a packet in the mail and access to the app, which had all of our information. GPS maps worked very well (except when we ignored it when we wanted to venture off)! No problems once we got to Scotland. Macs took out all the stress of traveling solo on our self-guided bicycle journey through beautiful Scotland. We highly recommend their service!

Fantastic experience: We have used Macs Adventure for several hiking holidays, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Our most recent trips were hiking the Cornwall peninsula from St Ives to Penzance, the Channel Islands (Jersey, Guernsey, and Sark), and, most recently, the Aosta Valley in Italy. All the accommodations were excellent, and all the connections and transfers went smoothly. Taking weather out of the equation (Rain in Cornwall, and extreme heat in Aosta), the hikes were as advertised. The selection of trips from Mac’s is quite varied and extensive. If you are looking for a outdoor adventure walking or biking, self paced or guided, we highly recommend using Macs adventure

Fantastic experience: My wife and I did a MACs Adventure Hike on the West Highland Way in Scotland. It was one of the most memorable experiences ever. Their customer service was impeccable and they were always available to assist. My only regret is I haven’t figured out how to make a living hiking amazing places like the West Highland Way. We definitely will use MACS for our next adventure.

Fantastic experience: We’ve enjoyed several adventures with Macs Adventure, including Switzerland, Scotland, England, and New Zealand. And we’re currently planning our next adventure in Italy and Malta. If you enjoy active adventures and appreciate having a well curated itinerary that’s been thoroughly tested by experts, Macs is for you. I promise a memorable trip that’s better than you could have planned for yourself and you will be surprised by the cost. I don’t know how they do it, but do it consistently!!

Fantastic experience: I have done two trips with Macs. They aren’t perfect but I am giving them 5 stars. Each trip had a hotel booking problem (no reservations or reservations the wrong night) but issues were promptly resolved (which was lucky with an almost fully booked hotel). And one hotel was really sub par. But overall, it was awesome! Great hikes. Overall, good accommodations and a really helpful app to track progress. I will likely use them again and confirm my accommodations myself. Assistance as I planned for my trip was very good.

Fantastic experience: There is no way to put into words how grateful we are for Macs Adventure. This trip was planned with such incredible detail for us. We enjoyed the challenge of the hikes but also the perfectly selected accomodations that were comfortable while making us feel like locals. The extra optional treks and adventures for the rest days were perfect and could be tailored to how we felt that day. We will never forget this trip or the view from Faulhorn.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I used Mac's to hike stage 1 of the Camino Frances and it was a wonderful experience. The luggage transfers went off without a hitch and the hotels all exceeded expectations (with the exception of one or two). Would definitely recommend this company!

Fantastic experience: This WHW (8 hiking days), was my 2nd; I hiked it solo-7 days in 2012. This time, my wife and a HS pal joined the fun. This is an amazing hike for anyone who has a good level of fitness, trained prior to coming to Scotland, and prepares well for each day using the tools Macs provides as well as weather awareness.It does not require technical climbing skills. The route has only gotten better! You will not get lost as the signage has improved, the trail support is solid, and the luggage system is good. Bring an open mind. Each accommodation is charming and unique-not fancy. You may have to wait a bit for your luggage some days. Your fitness level, fatigue level, and the weather will affect each day's hike. Posted distances will be too low based upon where your lodging is. All factors should be taken into account. Ex: Day 2 on our hike this year was hot/full sun. Lunch was too long after Conic Hill without topping out our water supplies; we struggled a bit on the last stretch into Rowardennen. Day 3: many consider to be the toughest day. This can be mitigated by doing the High Route in the AM. I have done Day 3 both ways; each has been wonderful. The 2nd half of Day 3 you have no choice; you will be on a low route. Do what is best for you on Day 3. Do your homework on which lodging you choose as many are not on the trail. Don't complain (post hike)as Macs is very transparent as to the location of all their accommodations. Take advantage of lodgings that have a Drying Room. Pack per Macs suggestions: Rain is part of the experience. Pack midge mitigation items & use them when needed. Then simply relish this wonderful experience! This was my 8th hike using MacsAdventure. I am an experienced traveler with high expectations. I strongly endorse Macs as well as this hike. Our chosen lodgings were as follows: Drymen Inn, Rowardennen Hotel,Ardlui Hotel,Tyndrum Inn, Bridge of Orchy Hotel, Kingshouse Hotel, Highland Getaway, Myrtle Bank Guest House. Thanks Macs!

Fantastic experience: Our recent Camino de Norte hike with Mac Adventures was a fantastic experience. From the initial planning stages to the walk itself, everything was seamlessly managed. Mac Adventures' excellent organization ensured perfectly timed luggage transfers and comfortable accommodations throughout our journey. The hotels were well-chosen, offering a warm welcome and a comfortable space to unwind after each day's walk. Breakfast arrangements were consistently satisfying, with wonderful meals prepared by the hotels, ready for us to enjoy each morning. The upfront communication with Mac Adventures was professional, pertinent, and very helpful. This, along with all the provided materials and their excellent app for navigation, allowed us to prepare thoroughly and concentrate on enjoying the experience of hiking the Camino. We also want to commend their staff, particularly Sarah Keag, who was friendly, knowledgeable, and always available to answer our questions and offer recommendations. Mac Adventures' meticulous organization, expertise, and professionalism truly made our trip. We highly recommend them to anyone seeking a well-organized and enjoyable hiking holiday in Spain or elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Everything went off without a hitch. Bag transfers, pick ups, hikes and checking into lodging. Only complaint is that the last place we stayed was a single bed (we asked for doubles) and me and my adult 6’ 3” son are exactly used to sleeping together. But still deserves all 5 ⭐️’s. Great experience! Would definitely do again!

Fantastic experience: Macs is always a great at supporting and arranging our walking adventures. The planning, communication, and execution are first rate. We worked with Garrett who was always prompt with answering our questions and helping us rearrange ferries and taxis when the airlines changed our flights. This is the third time I've used Macs and I'll use them again for our next walking adventure.

Positive experience: the staff was extremely responsive to our requests, made new connections for post Mac Adventure trip and eliminated confusion and missed connections. We took the Crete walk, the initial schedule that was forwarded to us included a walk from Vamos to the ocean on the first day and a ride back, it also provided an overnight stay in Loutro. The actual trip when we arrived omitted the first day cab ride and subjected us to a long, steep climb to get back to Vamos, and we had two nights in Chora Sfakion and omitted the night in Loutro. These two changes took away from the experience of the trip and I criticize Mac for these changes.

Fantastic experience: Our Cornwall walking adventure was perfect. We were able to easily modify the walks to fit our wishes; the accommodations were super; and the logistics were all perfect. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: If you love to walk on your own, without the hassle of walking on your own, then Macs Adventure is the company for you. I told them what we wanted, in what countries, and they came up with a seamless six weeks of walking in three different countries. They make sure the luggage is transferred from place to place, and if you ask, they'll also arrange transfers for you as well. We had a great time.

Fantastic experience: The Oxford to Bath bike ride was excellent. The bikes were comfortable and well maintained. The luggage transfer was flawless. The route was well-researched and kept us from major roads 95% of the time. The single track and other less traveled roads traversed the beautiful Cotswolds in such a way that we were able to really enjoy the countryside without being a danger to others on our bikes. Also, can't fault the weather, which was amazing!

Negative experience: Our Camino hike was a great experience, but communication with Macs was problematic, with "extra" calls to clear up travel arrangements. The personnel were all friendly. The web site was slow and glitchy. The trip went off without a great deal of difficulty, but two hotels at first informed us we had no reservation. The hotels arranged were generally fine (but was was being renovated loudly all around us). Our luggage tags and reservations did not say Macs Adventures but another company name we were not familiar with. (Were we subbed out to another company?) We received excellent travel documents including a guide to the Camino from Macs SIX WEEKS AFTER the trip was complete. Perhaps our experience was unique, but overall we weren't impressed.

Positive experience: Five of us walked the Camino in Style route in May 2024. Accommodations and food were top notch ... Very welcome after long days of walking! There were a couple issues with ground transfers (to/from hotel, to airport) which were quickly fixed after calling Macs' 24-hour help line. Overall a very enjoyable trip. This was our 3rd trip with Macs. We will be back for more!

Fantastic experience: I have been most fortunate to utilize the skills and services offered by Macs Adventure on numerous journeys. My most recent 'pilgrimage' was walking a part of The South West Coast path from St Ives to Penzance. (England/Cornwall) May 2024. The trail was stunning and often times I stopped, wiping my eyes, thinking I was dreaming! The wonders never stopped... Macs 'always' comes though for me...no matter how often I call with the simplest of questions...they answer! The app is amazing and I loved when I was trekking along I'd get a mindful 'ding' making me aware of a significant place to look 'out' for!!! I met the most inspiring persons, accommodations seemed to get better and better...Thanks Macs, I'm already looking ahead to my next adventure!!! What a Wonderful World

Fantastic experience: Among the three Macs Adventure walks in Scotland we have done over the last 3 years, the "Great Glen Way" was perhaps the best. The other two were spectacular, too: "Walking in the Scottish Highlands" and "Skye and the Outer Hebrides." The length of each daily walk and difficulty were accurate as presented by Macs and doable by us given our ages. We had beautiful weather, with no rain and no midges (May 5-15). The accommodations were very nice with friendly hosts. The paths are fairly easy and don't require walking sticks. The scenery was spectacular. We met interesting people doing the same walk. All arrangements made by Macs were flawless. We would recommend this walk and Macs Adventure without reservation and with the strongest endorsement.

Fantastic experience: Macs adventure made my desire to walk the Camino de Santiago a reality. They made planning the trip so easy as they handled most of the details! I can't recommend them enough.

Fantastic experience: My solo trek following Hadrian's Wall went flawlessly! Many thanks to Macs Adventures for the providing great accomodations, luggage transfers, and access to their nav app. I felt secure on-trail knowing they were in the background just in case support was needed. I was able to focus on my adventure without worry.

Fantastic experience: The Peneda-Geres trip was amazing! It is accurately described as moderate to strenuous. Lots of climbing but also some easy flat bits. Beautiful scenery, and very few people so if you don’t want peace and quiet, this isn’t the hike for you! There are herds of wild horses, grazing cattle, and little villages. The overnight stops were great, especially Lindoso, where our accommodations were converted stone buildings, with terrific hosts! Try the main restaurant in Lindoso - the owners are Portuguese but lived in Toronto for years, and will welcome you with open arms! Port tasting to end the trip was good touch. The MACs app was invaluable and everything was so well organized with zero glitches! We will definitely use MACs again

Positive experience: Review for Peak District Short Break in Mid May. Overall, the trip was good. Under the positives are the Macs people communicated well with us, the process worked well, and the off- line maps were good. Our first accommodation at Grendon B&B was amazing with great, personal service and luxurious accommodations. The vegetarian breakfast was tasty, generous, and healthy. The accommodation at Scotsman’s Pack was good, small and quaint with a very good vegetarian breakfast and good service. Things that were less positive include the taxi ride to Chatsworth House. The driver drove very fast without regard for the comfort of her passengers. Also, the difficulty rating for the hikes should be more moderate than easy due to the length, conditions, and lack of resting spots.

Positive experience: Overall we really enjoyed our trip to Ireland this May that included a week-long Macs Adventure walking tour on the Wicklow Way. This included high end accommodations and was rated as "moderate" intensity level. While the three hotels were lovely and had friendly staff we would caution that two of the hotels (Buswell's in Dublin and Brooke Lodge in Macreddin Village) did not have air-conditioning. We had hot and sunny weather and the rooms became stiflingly hot. Neither of the hotels had screens on their windows. There were a number of issues with our walking routes. Most annoying was that on our first and second hiking days we were directed to enter the estate of the Powerscourt Hotel through the golf course adjacent to the hotel. We tried to do so but were stopped by a local who told us there was no proper access that way and also said that crossing a golf course while it is in use is dangerous. We heard from our shuttle driver that hikers in the past have had nasty confrontations with golfers trying to do just that. Also, Powerscourt staff told us there was no access to the hotel via that route. Ultimately, we had to add three extra kilometres of walking on roads via Enniskerry to each of our days of vigourous 17 km hikes. Sure it's doable, but not so much fun when you're ready to quit and have a beer. On the first hike we were directed off the Wicklow Way so as to get to our hotel more directly but this meant transversing a very wet, poorly marked and boggy "trail" that later entered a zone of wind-fallen trees and bush-wacking. We think that staying on the Wicklow Way and arranging for a pick-up would have been a better option. The same could be said for day 2 when we passed the Powerscourt Falls and then left the trail at the Crone Woods car park. Walking the very narrow roads the next 7 km was dangerous owing to blind corners. Our experienced shuttle driver offered the view that this wasn't safe. A pick-up at Crone Woods Car Park would have been a better end to the hike and apparently is the practice of another tour company. Our third day of walking started in Glendalough-a beautiful spot- but unfortunately led to a good third or more of our day walking along roads through logging slash and an active logging zone (with signs barring entry). We had no alternative but to carry on through and the trucks on the roads kindly slowed so as not to kick up too much dust. A minor issue: Buswell's Hotel couldn't make fresh sandwiches to take on our first hike but there are great options at Fallon and Byrne a 10 minute walk away. Be aware though that the hotel doesn't have fridges in their rooms so storing could be an issue if it gets hot again. To summarize, most of the scenery was beautiful, the hotels were well-situated and comfortable (on cooler days), our shuttle driver (Martin) was outstanding, and the people we met on the trails, and at the hotels and restaurants were warm and genuine. But, some tweaks to the routing are needed.

Positive experience: Thoroughly enjoyed our cycling the Vicentina adventure. The route was interesting and mapping made it easy to follow. We travelled pavement, dirt paths, and gravel roads showing us varied and spectacular countryside. Minimal secondary highway travel. Accommodations were in small town hotels en route or in country pousadas-( we loved those but did involve an evening ride to find dinner.) Very happy with the accommodation package. Luggage transfers were seamless, and our orientation and wrap up with tour representatives were thorough. Would have given it a 5 star, but there was a change in our route to accommodate a hotel unavailability that was not updated with our mapping. We did need some assistance during our trip and the company was quick to respond. Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: We just did the Algarve Coast trip. Mac's does a wonderful job organizing the trip. Our lodging was amazing, I actually would of perferred a little less touristy resorts, but they were really nice. We had just one little problem with the directions to one of our hotels. they had been put in the app wrong but we had to correct address outside of the app. I hope to use Mac's for another trip to Puglia next spring.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I enjoyed our Coast to Coast hike very much! The way Macs scheduled our rest days was perfect. The Macs app is great! The help we received setting up this trip was top notch. We have used another company for hikes in the UK and they were good, but Macs app alone is a deal changer for us, it is that good. It was also good to hear many of our hosts at B&Bs tell us how much they like working with Macs.

Fantastic experience: Our short hiking trip on the west coast of Ireland was a great! Good combination of beautiful hiking and time to sightsee. Loved the flexibility of hiking shorter distances. The lodgings were great, as was the food.

Positive experience: Had a couple of snafus with map direction. One pretty major (day 2 longest day). Also staying in Glenmalure is not advisable. No services there whatsoever and the in that has them was shut down while I was there. Had to modify my trip so that I didn’t get trapped in that b&b for another night. Cut my trip short by one day.

Fantastic experience: We had an incredible journey traveling with MACs. Accommodations were comfortable/clean . The hotels in Zaharia, El Lago and Ronda were exceptional . The hikes were a perfect balance of easy days and strenuous days for us . Hikes were peaceful and we met few hikers. We were very grateful for the app, as the trails were not well marked and the trail seemed to just disappear at some points .

Fantastic experience: Two friends and I used Mac's Adventures to plan and help us navigate their "Walking the Catalonia Coast in Style" hike in late April 2024. We all agreed that this was an outstanding self-guided hike. We asked for beautiful scenery, quaint but luxurious accommodations, interesting but easy to moderate effort hiking trails, and spectacular food. Mac's met and exceeded our expectations on all of the above. It also helped that we had sunshine and cooler temps (50s-60s) every day. I highly recommend this particular hike and using Mac's Adventures to arrange it.

Positive experience: We had a great time. The first two days were a challenge. The hotels were fine except for the first one in Sarria. That was pretty sparse. The rest of them were great and all but the first one had a hair drier, so I purchased one for no reason.

Positive experience: NOT MacsAdventure's fault but we had terrible weather - heavy rain and strong winds most of the trip. Otherwise I'd give the trip 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful time hiking. The views were spectacular and the farms were amazing. Some downfalls were that it was quite muddy this time of year (MAY). I would highly recommend bringing walking sticks. I had fallen due to the slickness of the mud. I had Merrell hiking shoes on but most people were wearing sneakers. Sneakers are not recommended footwear. The places we had stayed at were clean and quite friendly. The accommodations were clean and close to our next day starting point. Your app had helped us tremendously. We had gone off the trail a bit and my phone vibrated to let us know what was happening. The app helped us throughout our trip. I do wish it showed us where we could find water. There was one leg of our hike that water was scarce. Cell phone coverage was never an issue. I highly recommend Macs Adventure if you are planning a trip to Spain.

Fantastic experience: Ronda and the Sierra de Grazalema Short Break was wonderful. The app worked well though we learned that it's a good idea to both read the trail description and the map! The app squawks at you if you get too far off the trail. April is a perfect time for this walk, not too hot and so many flowers! The first day was labeled moderate to strenuous. The strenuous bit came near the end of the hike and was at the limit of what I find enjoyable. There was a last minute change to the schedule which did not appear on my app, but luckily the fix was easy. We did not overnight in Zahara but instead in Grazalema. The hotel was not fancy (and the floors were cold!), but everyone was extremely nice, the rooms were huge and the view from the terrace to our room could not be beat. My only quibble is that from the US it is impossible to make reservation for a bus to Ronda.

Positive experience: We loved this adventure, however, the second day was STRENUOUS not moderate to strenuous. This was really a big deal in the whole scheme of things. All the accommodations were good, some better than others.

Fantastic experience: We love Macs Adventure. They are well organized and provide amazing accommodations along the way. The tours are self-guided and you walk at your own pace. We have walked the Walking the Catalan Coast in Style and The Best of the Bernese Oberland in Style. Photos attached. We highly recommend their tours and will do more of them.

I found their app with all the details including maps extremely helpful. One one day, we rode to our next destination with our baggage suttle service because of rain. I'm looking forward to our next Macs Adventure.

Fantastic experience: We have used Macs Adventure for our long distance walking trips for over ten years. We just completed walking the Dingle Way with Macs. It is a wonderful walk taking you around the whole Dingle peninsula. It features an inland segment, coastal views, beach walks and a mountain hike. Combine the spectacular scenery with historic buildings, ridiculously cute lambs, and a chance to meet fellow hikers along the way and you've got a great trip. Macs made the whole thing effortless. They arranged the accomodations, handled all the luggage transfer between b&bs, and provided a great app with route maps, turn by turn intructions, and all the information on each days' bookings. They also have an active Facebook community that gives you an opportunity to share highlights of your hikes, ask questions about what to expect, and see other hikes from the perspective of folks out on the trail. I recommend them very highly.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I recently returned from a bike trip to Portugal from April 9-16, 2024 and we had the most amazing experience. The biking was incredible, the route took us on every sort of dirt trail, two track road, dirt road and even a bit of trail through rice fields and part of the fisherman’s hiking trails high up on the headlands above the coast. It was impressive how the self guided track we easily followed on the Mac’s Adventure app was able to connect up dirt riding keeping us mostly off of roadways that tended to be winding, narrow and full of traffic. we felt safe and added so much to the fun factor of our experience. We rode the Rota Vicentina from Setubal ( just outside of Lisbon) to Sagres at the bottom of the country in the Algarve. The coastline was gorgeous, the beaches pristine, flat, broad and very large beautiful beaches with perfect waves for swimming and each was so inviting that we stopped so often to experience and enjoy the sand and the waves we often did not get to our daily destination until 5 or later. We went on each and every side excursion suggested to see all the sights, the castles, the lighthouses, and the windmills. we highly recommend this self guided trip. The logistics came together seamlessly, the hotels well chosen, the mileage was great enough to feel you got good exercise but not too much to allow for plenty of exploration aside from the biking. The bikes were a hybrid between a gravel bike and a mountain bike which did the job perfectly. we highly recommend the Rota Vicentina bike trip. we even went somewhat inland to get a flavor of pine forests, cork forests, farmland and countryside in addition to the beautiful Atlantic coastline of portugal. Thanks Macs Adventure for putting together such a great trip. We will go again on another self guided bike trip to another destination in the near future.

Fantastic experience: Mac's Adventure booked great accommodations and luggage and trailhead transfers for us on the west coast of Ireland at a reasonable price and provided good information for our hikes

Fantastic experience: Incredible hiking experience. Generally, beautiful trails along Loch Lomond. Third day was difficult, and involved a great deal of climbing over large boulders and steep stone approaches near Rob Roy's hideout. Past Loch Lomond the trail rises into beautiful forests and rolling hills. Trail includes forest service roads. But overall the trail is beautiful and well-marked. Hotel accommodations were a combination of B&B's and small hotels, and all were comfortable and clean. Special mention to Allt Na Leven in Kinlochleven. Make sure you have good rain gear!

Positive experience: Overall a good Camino experience however with fixed daily walk schedule (fell more of assignments) ranges between 20 to 30km, I wished I have control of daily walk distances. Map provided was in accurate for many occasions especially the last two days’ maps were off as much as 2km. When I needed assistance thus to seek advice contacted support personnel reply took a few days perhaps because it was weekend but once we’re on trail we really didn’t have weekends ☺️

Fantastic experience: This is our scond walking trip with Macs. Both time the service provided has been excellent. The accomidations have been part of the great experience. The walking can tough at times, but very rewarding.

Positive experience: The trails and towns and people we met along the way were incredible and we will definitely go again and take another one of the many Caminos in Spain. However, we will definitely book our accommodations ourselves. The places Macs used were ok, however, some of the rooms were very tiny as were the bathrooms, with shower stalls you could barely turnaround in, and we are average sized people. Also some of the places were farther off the trail and the extra miles after a day of 12 -15 miles hiking was not appreciated.

Positive experience: My sister and I recently completed the Danube bike trail from Vienna to Budapest through Macs Adventure‘s. The entire experience was wonderful, but not really thanks to Macs Adventures, more thanks to the local tour operator Rad and Reison. They were way more helpful throughout and had accurate information. As far as the cons are concerned, communication from Macs was confusig, often inaccurate, and unreliable. My primary staff correspondent was also incredibly unhelpful. Even rude at points, and didn’t really answer my questions. She actually said she had never done this and many of her colleagues hadn’t either, so they didn’t know the details or whether or not the details were accurate, including important navigation, and transportation information. The routes that were in the Macs app we’re also not accurate, and the local tour operator had their own app that we had to download and use for navigation, which thankfully was accurate. Doesn’t really seem necessary for Macs Adventure’s to have an app if it’s not going to be accurate. I’m honestly not too sure what Macs Adventure does for this exact tour because the local company sent us all the info (a few days before departure) and there were still some inconsistencies between what the local company sent us and what Macs Adventure originally sent us…Needless to say it caused a bit of confusion, and the whole reason I was using Macs Adventure‘s was to keep things easy…but luckily, since I’m experienced, I managed to figure everything out, and all went well. The accommodations that the local tour company selected were wonderful, and the stops were great as well. Again, some of the routes were confusing, and not all of the information was in the packet, which was somewhat confusing on day, five and six, but the local tour operator was very responsive and helpful whenever I reached out to ask questions during the tour. I won’t be using Macs Adventure‘s again because I don’t understand the value if they don’t actually know the routes/tours. Next time I’ll just go through a tour company in country. Definitely recommend the bike trail though, and Rad and Reison!

Fantastic experience: My husband and I did the Kerry Way Short Break the end of April. This was our first trip with Macs and they did not disappoint. The support that Macs provided was exceptional. All questions that I had were answered in a timely manner and they even reached out to us before we left to be sure that we had everything we needed. We used the app and had the maps with step-by-step instructions so we could not go wrong. Fortunately, the weather was sunny and beautiful. No issues with luggage transfer and the Inn's at which we stayed were delightful. Macs did a wonderful job of planning the trip. The scenery was stunning. Hands done one of the best vacations I have ever been on.

Fantastic experience: Thanks to Mac’s Adventures, our group of four friends that met on the West Highland Way reunited for an outstanding supported hike of the Great Glen Way. The Scotland scenery wrapped us in its arms like a welcoming grandparent while the nightly accomodations pampered our tired bodies with comfort and kindness. Every night was a pleasant surprise at lovely guest houses, each unique and perfectly selected by Mac’s. Luggage transport was excellent, cases moved ahead to all the right places at the right time. The cherry on top was the tasty breakfast provided each morning before we stepped into the trail again. Most places provided a takeaway lunch for a low fee, a hiker bonus. I recommend Mac’s Adventures for creating your value-conscious trekker’s trip of a lifetime to Scotland.

Positive experience: Crete - Coast to Coast We really had to embrace the guiding theme of MACs that this was an adventure and not perfectly scripted, by design. Since it is a firm based in Scotland we found the step by step written directions a bit confusing as we were not familiar with Scottish ‘colloquialisms’ and their ways of wording things. Definitely had to follow the written directions AND their app map in tandem. Part way through our trip they upgraded their systems and just luckily my ancient phone was able to ‘participate’. This trip should only be taken in the cooler shoulder seasons as it was still hot in early October. Swimming was exceptional! Pre-trip it would have been nice if we consistently had the same MACs person to answer our emailed questions to keep everything consistent. In Vamos (Nektar Cafe) and Loutro (Hotel Kyma) the freebie breakfasts were subpar as compared to any other breakfasts we have had on our 4 MACs trips. Beware - Panorama Hotel (Askifou) has a limit on your hot water -120 gallons per day. And petrol was going to be delivered the next week for heating the rooms – very chilly. In the description of this trip MACs said the Greeks are the friendliest people. We found this to not be true. Maybe it was nearing the end of season and everyone was tired but no matter how engaging and friendly we were, many (especially men) just looked away from us and ignored any salutations we made, even those made in Greek. And we were amazed by the amount of smoking and vaping! I suggest you ask the last time that the route was walked by a MAC’s employee. One trail was very hard to find as house construction had occurred and debris littered/camouflaged the path. And many trails were very overgrown. We rarely saw anyone else on the trails. Take water shoes – all the beaches we swam at were sandless. Total rocks. But the water was heavenly. Despite all the negatives I pointed out we will definitely book our 5th trip with MACs. Love that we are not in a group and get to know the local culture up close and personal.

Fantastic experience: I have done one review. To repeat our WHW trek in Scotland was excellent. I did make a couple of comments that we thought needed saying- the start of day 2 leaving Drymen is quite dangerous walking as the space for walking is 2-3 feet away from vehicles traveling very fast and they are coming from behind. A new path could be made to the left behind trees.The second comment concerned day 3 as the terrain is way more difficult than "moderate".We feel that should be noted somewhere in your notes to hikers. We know of a few hikers- not Mac's folks- who quit after our day 3 saying this is too difficult. I would be happy to discuss any of this with you. We are looking forward to our next Mac's adventure- we have booked King Ludwig's hike for next September.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely loved my Macs trip - Napa Valley Wine and Walking! They laid everything out so well, and we had great communication with the local supplier. We always felt taken care of and stayed in the most beautiful accommodations in Sonoma County! The hikes were full of redwoods, wildflowers, etc. and we were able to end each day with a winery (1 included, but in prime areas to visit others not included). We loved the flexibility to choose our own dinners and evening plans!

Fantastic experience: My friends and I just completed Cotswolds Way, North. Mac's did a fabulous job organizing. The accommodations were perfect and the luggage transfer was seamless. The app was helpful and Mac's answered questions beforehand. We recommend.

Fantastic experience: I have used Mac Adventure for four trips so far. I have several experiences with other travel agents. What I like about Macs is the clear description of the adventure and what to expect. They are middle road no frills agency. Their prices generally reflect this. Our most recent trip was Flower Island - Madeira. Hotels in the Main towns were very nice. Further away the choices were more limited but the accommodations were more than adequate. When food was provided it was average not gourmet and ample. The trail maps, GPS maps and descriptions were as good better than All Trails. Our pick up and drop off provider was perfect and very nice. WE had no problems- the hikes themselves were fabulous. Positives - Mac fulfills their promises - Negatives they do not go above and beyond and lavish extras- like backpacks or water bottles - Backroads is a more upscale agency that in my opinion provides high end trips ( with T shirts) but they are not my style. I highly recommend Macs Adventure .

Positive experience: Thé isle of skye is a great place to visit. Great hiking and gorgeous scenery. Definitely worth visiting. Macs adventures did our booking and booked us a fantastic day of site seeing and island touring with Donald our guide. It was a great day. Our complaint would be with the poor accommodations and breakfast in Portree. We definitely did not enjoy our time in the hotel and breakfast was less than average. We were also looking at hiking around Portree and other parts of the island but in our package we had no information on this and getting around the island without transportation is near impossible. We were not given a heads up about this or perhaps we would of looked at some different options.

Fantastic experience: All expectations were met. My nephew and I had an amazing time. All accommodations were clean and comfortable. The Macs Adventure app worked as advertised. Thanks Macs. I look forward to traveling with you again.

Fantastic experience: Algarve Coastal trails May 2022- absolutely wonderful! Amazing food and scenery. This was my second walk with Macs. I have already booked a 3rd for next year!

Negative experience: Where do I Start!!! Too exhausting to continue to battle over their poor explanations of who is responsible for our experience with Macs. One very important advice only communicate in writing. Have a paper trail!

Negative experience: My first experience with Macs was for the entire Camino de Santiago. It was very good, but then, there are at least a dozen or more Camino guidebooks so they couldn't go wrong. But, the most recent (AND THE VERY LAST) trip we went with them was the "Loire Valley Castle tour." As a result of this debacle, we'll never go on another Macs trip. PROS: The hotels and B&Bs were absolutely outstanding. Le Manoir Saint Thomas (Amboise), Hotel Diderot (Chinon), Hotel Biencourt (Azay-le-Rideau), Les Haut des Lys (Villandry), Maison Jules (Tours); these were without compare. Also, the luggage pickup was reliable, much appreciated. CONS: 1. There was NO enroute support from Macs whatsoever. If you need to call, text, or email them you will get a return correspondence that "they are very busy right now and will get back with you in three business days." WHAT?? 2. It is apparent that no one from Macs has ever hiked its own Loire Valley trip. There are NO castles anywhere on the hike; you are exclusively directed through barren lumber yards, miles and miles of forests being hacked down. It was dreadful. Not one village in over 20 kilometers. When the temps are in the mid 90s you simply can't carry enough water for survival. 3. Their "directions" will direct you to turn at markers on TREES. Remember how we said this was a lumber yard? Right. So trees with markers on them are as likely as not to be chopped down. 4. Although this may be less of a problem than it was a few weeks ago, the day before we departed France (on a Friday) when we left Amboise, the entire country was shut down for a bank holiday, That is the same day we were supposed to get our Covid test. From where, pray tell? Every place was shut down, and we couldn't get hold of Macs. They left us high and dry. Why didn't they give us assistance in advance about these requirements? 5. There were NO instructions how to get back to Paris or any other city with an airport. We had to get our only directions from our B&B's owner. 6. Macs did a horrendous job of putting this tour together. Our hosts at one of our early B&Bs was aghast that this was even designed as a hiking tour. At least, you should be riding with an electric bike group. The hiking is NOT lovely (do NOT believe the pictures on their website), and by time you get to your next B&B it will be far too late to go visit any castle. My husband and I decided to bag Macs hiking after the first day, since our desire was to see castles and vineyards, and we just took a taxi to each next village and then we could see two or three castles and/or a vineyard. With the exception of the terrific B&Bs, we could not give this tour a lower rating. We'll never take Macs again. The Loire is definitely worth a trip, but not via Macs.

Fantastic experience: I have found Macs Adventure to be a wonderful organization. Throughout the Covid travel restrictions, they have been flexible and accommodating. Their personal service has been excellent. I would highly recommend these folks to anyone planning a trip. They are excellent

Positive experience: Just completed Highlights of Tour de Mont Blanc with Macs Adventure. It was a very basic experience. The transfers and hotel reservations were fine. but I think it's the individual companies that made things run smoothly... like Chamonix Valley Transfers... that is a great transfer company. Hotels were all very responsive and helpful. Just bunch of nice people in Mont Blanc area. So Back to Macs Adventure. Granted that we traveled near the end of the season and there were a lot of closures, there were very little updates and the updated information was often wrong. (i.e. Gondola closure that lead us to go to another one or bus information (ARNOVA bus stop is actually Arp Nouva in Courmayeur...it's something you can't really google. ) I would think that there should be a point person following the group (or be one day ahead of it) letting us know of the latest changes but we didn't get any of it. Some of the busses only run once every two hours... so if you miss one, you are waiting for a long time. Some hikes appeared to be extra longer when there was a bus available from a station closer. i.e. last day Le Tour vs Montroc bus stop ) I also read some descriptions of the various hikes in other websites verbatim. Wonder who copied who? I do not know if there are other companies like Macs? I may even use them again since we finished the hikes and came back in one piece. We just made a mistake of thinking many of these issues would be taken care of in advance. in summary, three stars since it meets basic needs. but there wasn't much extra.
