Fantastic experience: We had the trip of a lifetime on our honeymoon thanks to Kyle, Jenna, and the Ubuntu team! Every detail was thought of and the lodges/resorts they recommended were absolutely incredible. We especially adored our guide Hassan at Lemala!! After planning a 2-day wedding, it was incredible to have every logistic thought of and taken care of. A member of the Ubuntu team was reachable at all times while in Africa which was wonderful. I am counting down until we can find another excuse to get back to Africa and use Ubuntu again!!

Fantastic experience: We rarely work with tour operator, but for Africa we were recommended Ubuntu Travel. After talking with them and sharing our expectations — especially wanting diverse landscapes, unique experiences, and lots of safaris — they created an amazing 18-day itinerary for us. We took 11 internal flights, and they delivered 100%. The trip was perfectly planned without a single flaw. Everything I wanted to see and do — and so much more — was included. Every place had its own magical moments. It was truly a wonderful trip. We are very grateful for Ubuntu Travel. They are extremely professional and have an incredible network of contacts, making it easy to reach people whenever needed. Fantastic experience: We had the honeymoon of our DREAMS in Africa thanks to the Ubuntu team! We had never hired travel planners before, but because of the nature of this trip along with planning a wedding, we knew we didn't have the capacity to plan it on our own. We are so happy that we hired Ubuntu! They made our experience seamless and so easy for us. We traveled to 4 different countries and didn't have to think about getting from one place to the next, we had someone guiding us every step of the way. They customized the experience based on what we wanted to see and do, and it was perfect for us. Fantastic experience: Ubuntu planned an unforgettable adventure for us! Our group was made up of two families of 5, one from LA and one from DC, and Leah and her team made the process incredibly easy! Fantastic experience: The Most Amazing Trip! Leah planned our incredible family adventure on very short notice, and we were blown away by how quickly she worked and how responsive she was throughout the entire process. Jenna and the whole Ubuntu team executed everything flawlessly. From the moment we landed in South Africa, through our quick adventure to Zambia, and back to South Africa, until our departure home, every single logistical detail was perfectly handled. The locations selected for us were impeccable, each with amazing staff who made us feel welcome and cared for. It was such a gift not having to think about any of the logistics — everything was taken care of, allowing us to truly sit back, relax, and enjoy our unforgettable safari vacation. It was the trip of a lifetime for our family of four (including two teenage girls), and one we will always cherish. We cannot recommend Ubuntu highly enough, and we absolutely cannot wait to have them plan another adventure for us in the future!

Fantastic experience: Ubuntu’s team did an amazing job tailoring and organizing our trip according to our wish list. It was such a great experience from the first phone call with Leah, to the fine tuning with Jenna before take-off, all the way through the completion of the trip. The camps, connections, guides were excellent and everything worked seamlessly and really allowed us to enjoy every minute of the trip. My wife and I worked with Ubuntu to plan an 11-day honeymoon planned by Ubuntu Travel in Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar, and it was beyond our wildest dreams. Fantastic experience: If you are thinking of going to Africa for a safari, I would highly recommend Ubuntu. They met with us as much as we needed while making sure they understood what we were looking for. We ended up starting in Cape Town, hitting the Stellenbosch and Franschhoek wine regions, going on two separate 3 day safari’s and ending with a trip to Victoria Falls. I think the best thing I could say is that we will be using Ubuntu again when we go back for an East African safari. I can’t give higher praise than that.

Fantastic experience: It's hard to know where to start when raving about Ubuntu Travel. From our first Zoom with Kyle almost a year and a half before we took our trip to Rwanda & Kenya, we knew we were in the hands of experts. I should mention that we interviewed more than 6 other companies before choosing Ubuntu. Once we decided which countries we wanted to go to, an approximate budget, date range, and what was important to us, Kyle, Leah & Jenna took it from there. They created the most amazing itinerary, secured stunning lodging and left nothing up to chance. They have on the ground partners who make the experience so memorable and flawless. We loved all of our guides, and every place we stayed. And the food... it was like dining at 5 star restaurants every night. Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is not like anything you will have ever done. To be close enough to gorillas, including having a silverback bump my leg as he and then his baby walked by, was an experience I will never forget. Not to worry...you go out in groups of just 8 people with a staff of guides, trackers, and porters along with you. They even communicate with the gorillas. We felt very safe, but had no idea we'd be THAT close to them. Rwanda is a gorgeous country, and the people are AMAZING. Don't think twice, just go. After spending about 6 days in Rwanda, gorilla trekking for two of them, we went on to Kenya for about 2 weeks of safaris on conservancies around the country. Every time we thought we had seen it all in terms of animals, we saw something else amazing: cheetah cubs with their moms; a lion cuddle puddle including a cub playing with family members; a gazelle being taken down; the Great Migration--Wildebeests & zebras as far as the eye could see, crossing a nearby river, returning from Tanzania to Kenya. We saw all big 5 on the first day, and nearly every other animal native to the areas, that you could imagine. We had an unforgettable adventure on a 1/2 day helicopter tour with Africa Heli Adventures out of Loisaba, which took us into parts of Kenya that most people never get to see. Landed 5 different times at different locations. Communications between Ubuntu, their on the ground associates, and us were outstanding. I cannot think of anything Ubuntu could have done better. No matter where you are considering going in Africa, Ubuntu will give you a trip beyond expectations.

Fantastic experience: Jenna at Ubuntu did a fantastic job of helping us craft and plan our honeymoon. She was particularly good at understanding how we envisioned the trip and safari experience going and then turning that into a reality with the right itinerary.

Fantastic experience: The two of us traveled for about 2 weeks on a safari organized by Ubuntu. It was virtually seamless starting with our arrival in Nairobi and our transportation to and between 4 camps, 2 in Kenya and 2 in Tanzania and then back to the airport. Each camp was very professional with very good drivers, very good food and excellent accommodations. We try to be gluten and lactose free and the 4 camps met our needs well and with a smile. We highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: My daughter and I did a 12 day African Safari to Kenya and Tanzania and it was a trip of a lifetime. The lodgings, the food, the safari guides, the animals ... all were amazing, especially in Kenya. We only encountered a couple small glitches. One was not the fault of Ubuntu .... our flight through Doha was cancelled and we were rerouted and missed out on a full day in Nairobi... Lost the money we had spent to add that extra day in the city with a driver. Very disappointing. We loved Kenya and had fantastic lodgings and guides there. We especially loved the Star Beds Tents where we slept out under the stars. Saw many animals and were able to get up close enough to get fantastic pictures. The balloon ride we took was amazing. The village visit was wonderful. But we were not as thrilled with our time in Tanzania in the Serengeti. Fortunately we were only there for a few days. We did not realize that you can not go off road in a National Park, and so we weren't able to get as close up to most of the animals as we were in Kenya. We also did not have a guide who was as wonderful as the ones we had in Kenya. ... he was not as knowledgeable or communicative and he got lost finding our lodging the first day. On safari, we spotted the animals before he did. The lodging there was beautiful but the staff was not as outgoing and friendly as in Kenya either. All in all the trip was wonderful and we would love to go back for another visit. We would just skip the Serengeti.

Fantastic experience: From brainstorming, to planning, to pre-trip preparation, to on the ground support, and even post trip follow up, Ubuntu has been absolutely AMAZING to work with. We had no clue where to even begin the planning process and they listened to our interests, budget, and feedback. Fantastic experience: Ubuntu is really amazing!! We just came home from a 9 day honeymoon that they organized for us and it was perfect. The planning process was really fun and easy and they listened and planned perfectly for our wants. They stayed within our budget and listened. The trip was super organized and went flawlessly. We had a last minute change to our scheduling and they worked with us to change our itinerary and make it work with our schedule. The local contacts they had for us while there were also super great and were very communicative and always helpful. We talked to quite a few companies while planning our honeymoon and Ubuntu blew us away from the start. The three lodges we went to were all very different from one another and worked perfectly for us. I could not recommend more!

Fantastic experience: We just had the most amazing trip to Tanzania! The Ubuntu team took care of every detail and each location we visited was beyond our wildest expectations. Fantastic experience: Jenn and Team were phenomenal! We started our adventure a year ago when we booked and Ubuntu could not have been any better!! They listened to what we wanted to see, worked within our budget , and put together a once in a lifetime trip !! From talking us through every aspect, how to pack , visas, etc … to facetime calls to answer all our questions , we knew we were getting 5 star treatment ! Once we arrived in Africa , James was there to meet us , collected our bags, walked us through every part of passport checks etc . He was an amazing guide for our day in Nairobi, and picked us up early for our flight to the Masai Mara. He checked us in on the fight and made sure everything was perfect before he left .we were met by our First guide from Sand River Camp , and from the moment we climbed in his truck the adventure began both camps we stayed in were amazing , sand river and cotters 1920, our accommodations were perfect with the best views in each camp , the food and service were second to non and both Safari Guides were amazing and we consider them family now . The worst part of the trip was having to say goodbye and come home . James met us again and took us to our day hotel , he again came in, and there was a problem with our booking , within in minutes he had called and had us upgraded to 5 star hotel !! I have traveled the world, and I can honestly say Ubuntu travel is the best agency I have ever used!! I will use them again and tell everyone I know and those reading this review, stop searching you have found the best there is in Ubuntu. Again Thank you so much Jenn and team !!

Fantastic experience: ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Completely organized and helpful from the initial planning to the last day of the trip. Suggestions were perfect and well thought out. 14 game drives and 11 plane flights without a missed greeting off the plane, problem with customs and immigration or ride to all the fabulous locations. Pictures are incredible but did not attach because cannot show the attention to detail and in person excitement. Would recommend Ubuntu Travel if you want perfect planning for a life changing experience.

Jenna Chase kept us informed about our trip as we approached our departure date. Josie du Perez helped us make a last-minute change to one of our touring days in Johannesburg. My husband and I traveled to Botswana, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. The properties where we stayed were comfortable with great food and friendly staff. Our wildlife viewing was spectacular, as were our tours around Johannesburg, train trip on Rovos Rail, and morning viewing Victoria Falls. Our guides made what would have been neat visits so much more enjoyable! You will not go wrong with Nelson from Jarat Tours in South Africa, Kelly at Little Tubu in Botswana, Oris at Kingspool in Botswana, Sepu from African Wanderer in Zimbabwe, Dave and Themble at The Motse in South Africa, Roderick at the AECI Dynamite Factory Museum in South Africa, and Joe at Rovos Rail in South Africa. We treasure the time we spent with each of them.

Fantastic experience: Ubuntu Travel did a wonderful and thorough job for our family Safari in July.The planning and all logistics were excellent for each of the camps that we visited. We have been to Africa several times before and Ubuntu travel was clearly the best that we have ever experienced.

Fantastic experience: We just got back from our safari honeymoon and it was absolutely incredible! From our initial discovery call with Ubuntu all the way through landing back in Chicago went great. They were able to help make all our dreams come true: Giraffe Manor, glamping and hot air ballooning in the Serengeti, dhow sunset boat tour in Zanzibar along with reservations at The Rock. We met a lot of others on safari from the US and every single one we encountered commented on how nice our hats and bags were. They stated they either received nothing from their travel company or got a bottle of water with the company's logo. They were also impressed with our travel itinerary app that Ubuntu had us download (which came in very handy) as we came across one couple who was on safari for 35 nights traveling between many countries and their travel company had them print off and carry around 100+ pages of information. We also loved that Ubuntu and ground crew created a Whatsapp text thread and someone was always there to respond in case we needed anything. We will definitely be using Ubuntu in the future for our other dream trips. I can't recommend them enough! I happened to find Ubuntu on a whim through a Google search and am grateful I did!

Fantastic experience: We’ve used Ubuntu twice now for trips on the African continent. They planned a 5 week trip in which we saw and experienced South Africa. Wineries, Capetown, the Garden Route, game reserves, Lesoto, and Eswatini (Swaziland), the depth and breadth of the trip was amazing and their organization was able to fix any problem that surfaced. This was in 2021. This year they planned a 26 day trip that took us to 8 different safari camps in Botswana and Zimbabwe, including 3 nites at an Island resort on the Zambezi River at Victoria Falls. The diversity of the places chosen showcased perfectly each reserve and the wild life was spectacular. They even hand picked the guides we were to use based upon their own personal experience at the camps. The whole trip was seamless, flights from camp to camp happened exactly as scheduled, the organization was flawless. We recommend them to anyone wanting a very professionally run and interesting trip, be it purely sightseeing seeing, safari ing, or a mix of both.

Fantastic experience: The agents at Ubuntu Travel provided us with a magical and unforgettable experience in Africa! Prior to our trip, they spoke extensively with us about our wants, needs, and expectations and used that information to customize the perfect experience for us. Our trip included 4-day stay in Cape Town followed by visits to Victoria Falls and four different game camps. Throughout the trip, Ubuntu checked-in with us regularly to ensure that all was going well. Due to their careful planning, every transition went flawlessly and our experiences in each locale were of the highest standards. Fantastic experience: Ubuntu took all of our requests, and put together a perfect itinerary for our African Safari. Originally we planned 12 days, but they offered so many exciting options that we chose 16. Every step of the way was carefully orchestrated and managed to give my wife and I exactly what we hoped for and a lot more. Fantastic experience: We are very experienced travellers but being my first trip to Africa I wanted some professional help in planning our safari as I was concerned it could be quite complex with bush flights and transfers between lodges. Fantastic experience: Absolutely cannot recommend Ubuntu enough! After planning a wedding, the last thing I wanted to do was plan our honeymoon. Leah worked closely with us to capture both my mine and my husband's wants and needs, and she came back with multiple options to work with our budget. We ended up going to Cape Town, 2 different Safaris, and ended 2 week honeymoon at an island off of Mozambique. From the second we landed in South Africa, we were taken care of. We didn't have to think about a thing, and if we needed anything at all I knew that Jenna and team were ready to assist. Fantastic experience: This review has taken far too long but given my wife and I had the honeymoon of a lifetime, we wanted to complete it! From our first conversation with Leah, we were provided amazing advice, comfort, and service. Given weather conditions and flight delays, we missed 3 days of our trip and nearly called off our travel plans out of frustration. Leah, Jenna, Josie, etc. kept us informed, motivated, and optimistic. Ultimately, we elected to go and visited South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. On our voyage, we ate fantastic food, cruised the Zambezi River, stayed in a luxury tree house, and saw all the big 5 on safari (just a sample of the awesome experiences)! Each step of our trip was curated (e.g., with drivers, transfers, in-app directions, etc.), and we always had access to an Ubuntu team member. Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Ubuntu Travel enough. They did a wonderful job helping us plan our 2-week honeymoon throughout South Africa and Botswana. Safari can be rather nuanced when taking into account booking all of the lodges, handling transfers between camps and getting from point A to point B. I consider myself a pretty seasoned traveler and enjoy planning trips on my own, but I knew having an extra helping hand in making the perfect Africa trip happen would be worth it. I am so grateful we decided to go with Ubuntu. Kyle, Leah and Jenna - along with the rest of their team located in Africa - were super hands on and quick to respond the entire time. Fantastic experience: My husband used Ubuntu to plan our honeymoon (it was a surprise for me) and the trip was absolutely incredible. We went to Rwanda, the Serengeti and Zanzibar over the course of 2 weeks. From the big picture to the tiny details, every single aspect of it was impeccable. The personal touches and people who helped us along the way (driver in Rwanda, Serengeti game driver, staff at hotels/lodges) were beyond anything that I could imagine. We were able to completely enjoy ourselves and not worry about any logistics, as they took care of all of the details (e.g., when we arrived in a new place by plane, someone met us and would take care of our passports/visas, bags, and transportation to the next lodging). The pampering we experienced at each place was also top notch. I think the fact that Ubuntu is a small agency and they have first hand experience of all of the trips that they plan differentiates them from other, larger travel agencies. A couple we met on our vacation had some issues with their travel agency dropping the ball or not listening to what they wanted, and this just drove home how fantastic Ubuntu was. I truly wish they covered more areas and we could use them for every trip, as any future trip will now pale in comparison!

We knew we wanted to go to Africa and had planned out a lot of what we were interested in doing (countries, activities etc.) but had no idea where to start. We sent our list off to about five or six companies and instantly felt a connection with Ubuntu. Leah was so helpful from the beginning and was super supportive in helping us plan our dream honeymoon to Africa! We had A LOT we wanted to do and had listed off multiple countries we wanted to visit. A few companies wrote back to us saying we were trying to do too much and that our trip was not “a honeymoon because it is too busy”. While we were super open to suggestions on how to make the trip work out better logistically, we are adventurous people and don’t like to sit on a beach for days on end. Leah and the Ubuntu team were so helpful from the very beginning. They gave us ideas on what to add in or take out in order to make the trip work out better or have a better flow, but also accepted that we like to be kept busy and on the go and were open to making it happen for us! We went through about 4 or 5 itineraries before finally deciding on the perfect trip for us and each time, Leah and the team were quick to respond to us and create any changes we requested. I can be difficult at time because I wanted everything to be perfect (I also wanted to see as much as possible and kept throwing things their way to see if we could make it work) and they never once came off as rude like a few of the other companies. Instead, Leah was eager to make our ideas work when she could, and make suggestions on alternatives if it didn’t work. They were honestly a dream to work with! We also were super nervous about booking due to Covid but they continued to reassure us that should the world shut down again, the lodges in Africa had been extremely helpful in rebooking/rescheduling as needed. Once we paid our deposit, Leah and the team continued to answer my many questions about packing, what to bring, adding in extras such as a hot air balloon in Kenya etc. They always responded quickly and helped us out anytime we needed it! We then asked them to quote my parents for one portion of the trip and they happily added on two extra people for the Uganda portion of our trip! We ended up doing 40 days in Africa (Egypt which we booked on our own and then Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, and South Africa) and it was flawless! Everything went so well from airport pickups, transfers, excursions etc! They always responded to us in a What’s App Group if we had any issues and checked in frequently. We had one minor hiccup in South Africa with a transfer/excursion and the Ubuntu Team was instantly in communication with the lodge and made everything work out perfectly. I truly have NO COMPLAINTS and cannot believe this trip went as smoothly as it did. We used Ubuntu travel to arrange our on-the-ground experiences in Johannesburg and Cape Town. The company provided guides who drove us around the cities. This personalized experience significantly enhanced the quality of our visit. Not only did we feel safe, but the guides met our every request. My son is a photographer and had certain locations he wanted to see that would not be on a normal tour. We were able to go to every location he requested. They put together the perfect itinerary and were even able to fit in our request to hike Kilimanjaro. Ubuntu took our high level "want list" and curated a selection of lodges and activities that were so well matched with our personalities and interests...and this was complete within a couple weeks of our initial outreach. Responses to our questions pre- and during the trip were prompt and efficient. We are forever grateful to Ubuntu for planning such a magical experience and can't wait to book with them again!

Fantastic experience: Ubuntu Travel is amazing! Leah worked with us for over a month building the perfect 2 week honeymoon for us. She helped us decide on what area/countries of Africa were best for what we were looking for. Then, based on our budget, wish list of activities, and dates she gave us options on accomodations, schedules and activities and constantly reworked the itinerary until we were ecstatic about it. They respond very quickly to any email, call or whatsapp and were always there to answer our questions. They helped us with travel documents, covid tests, and airline flights. They even sent us Ubuntu Travel luggage that was perfect for the bush planes luggage requirements. Once we were in Africa, we never worried about anything at all - there was always a private car transfer, private guide, or someone to escort us. We were pampered and surprised with romantic dinners and champagne three times ! We were SO impressed and happy with everything they booked for us, and the entire process was COMPLETELY stress free. Fantastic experience: Kyle, Leah and Jenna did an incredible job planning our honeymoon to South Africa, including re-booking the entire trip when we decided to reschedule due to the pandemic. We knew we wanted to visit Cape Town and go on a safari but Kyle and Leah listened to our ideas and interests and turned them into the perfect itinerary for us. Their suggestions for hotels, camps, restaurants and activities were spot-on and they helped us hone in on what we wanted to see and experience while we were there. Fantastic experience: Cape Town to Safari trip - We had an amazing experience with Jenna, Kyle, and Leah at Ubuntu travel. We had a lot of hiccups trying to schedule our travel due to the pandemic, and the Ubuntu team was extremely helpful in working with us and the venues in South Africa to accommodate our needs. We would have been overwhelmed trying to choose between the many options for a vacation in South Africa, and the Ubuntu team set us up with amazing lodging, tours, and a Safari Lodge that was like a dream- all for a super reasonable price. Working with Ubuntu really took the stress out of planning such an extensive trip and was 100% worth it. We traveled between Cape Town and Safari seamlessly, and Ubuntu took care of all of our Covid testing needs on our way out of South Africa.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Ubuntu travel enough! My husband and I used them to plan our honeymoon November 2021 and thought it was the best decision we made for our travels.
