Sunflower Travel Wichita

Negative experience: I called Sunflower Travel on February 13th and spoke to Angie. I told her what I was wanting to do and where I was wanting to go. She gave me some helpful information and ultimately sent me an email where I had to follow the links to put down a $50 design deposit. I went through all of those steps (which are confusing by the way, and I never saw $50 come out of my credit card) and then.... Nothing. No follow up from Angie. I emailed her again on Tuesday March 4th to let her know that I have not heard anything back from her at all. It's now Thursday March 6th with no response. I am not sure what just happened, but I don't know how to review this company any differently considering I have had zero follow up from Angie and I am now just going to either try a different agent or just book a trip on my own like I usually do.

Fantastic experience: In my life, there are two times I have been lucky. The first was when I got the opportunity to study abroad in my dream country. This was back in 2019. I am the first of my family to travel abroad for an extended period of time. Because of this, my family has never booked flights or done any travel outside of driving cars. We had no idea where to start. This is where Sunflower Travel came in. They helped my parents and I book round-trip tickets to allow me to travel abroad. They took my seating preferences and even made sure I had long connections for when I came back to the US. The second time I experienced luck was in 2022 when I got the opportunity to teach in that same dream country. Once again, I booked my flights through Sunflower Travel, and Heather Hadley was more than helpful throughout the whole process. She once again took my preferences into account and helped me book safe and comfortable flights. More recently, in January of this year, I got the opportunity to return to the US to visit my family for the first time in 3 years. My parents went through Sunflower Travel again, and even though 3 years had passed, Heather seemed to remember me. When I checked my booking, I realized my seating preferences were thought of, and I once again had nice, long connections so I didn't have to worry about missing any of my flights back home and when returning to the country I teach in. I am very grateful for everything Sunflower Travel has done to help me and my family throughout these last 6 years. Thank you for helping make my journeys safe and comfortable. Fantastic experience: We had a great experience with Dana booking travel plans in Amsterdam in January 2025. We abruptly booked a trip to attend a special event, so we needed to backfill in the tourist stuff to make the most out of the vacation. I randomly contacted Sunflower to inquire about the use of a travel agent to assist with my first time in Europe. I was too busy with the holidays and work to research anything, and we just needed to cover our bases to assure our short trip would be easy and exciting. I was most concerned about avoiding the usual things tourists can get trapped in, but wanted to be sure we didn't miss any must-dos. Dana confidently booked our hotels in two cities, placing us in amazing locations but at really affordable rates. We effortlessly had train tickets for between cities, a canal tour, and transportation to/from the airport. IF YOU LEARN ONE THING ABOUT TRAVEL ABROAD, IT IS TO BOOK TRANSPORTATION WITH A PRIVATE COMPANY! This tip was awesome. If you are unfamiliar with a destination, having a professional, competent and safe ride to your hotel is really a great way to relieve the anxiety that can come from arriving in a foreign country. Our drivers cost less than a taxi or Uber, it was faster in every aspect, and we got the luxury of riding with a driver that is also a tour guide. That allowed the learning to begin the second we stepped off the airport property. Dana was able to provide us with a bunch of ideas for how to make a great trip with a low to modest budget. We booked our own flights, but she was able to provide good advice to make everything run smoothly. And when we made some near last-minute changes to our itinerary, Dana had no issues with the modifications. I highly recommend contacting Dana at Sunflower Travel to see how she can make your trip abroad more fun and stress free.

Negative experience: On 8/4/24 my mother books a flight with Sunflower travel. Angie was the agent. The trip was to be 11/25-11/30. My mother, unknowingly, made the reservation under "Jeff", my full name is "Arnold Jeffrey". We decided this might be a problem with the TSA. Over next three weeks or so I tried to speak with Angie to get this correctly. It took many phone calls to speak to her (she never would return my calls). Angie told me she was too busy booking travel for the aircraft companies to address this problem. She final agreed to correct my name, but it would take TWO WEEKS?!? I did get an email saying it was fixed. Didn't think anything else about it. Fast forward to 11/30, I am at the TSA check point. The agent says "who's Jeff?" I explain the situation. He sent me back to the AA ticket counter to get it corrected. By the time that was done I had missed my flight. Apparently, Angie had only corrected the flight out, not the return trip. Best part? Was the only flight out that date. I still CANNOT wrap my mind around how an "agent" is too busy to make a simple correction. Then screw it up. Too busy with more important customers. Way to go Sunflower!!!

Negative experience: A friend recommended this place to me and I decided to try it out. It was great at first. The consultation was insightful and I gained knowledge about my trip next year. Though that was in the end of June. During the month of July I inquired about my itinerary to see when it would be worked on. Didn't hear back till about 5 business days later and was told that there needed to be 2 more trips finalized then my itinerary would get worked on. It is now November and still haven't heard back about anything. I would have at least liked to know progress even if there wasn't anything! I'm glad others had a great experience but apparently just wasn't for me.

Fantastic experience: Our wonderful travel agent, Dana, set my husband and I up on our second vacation through Sunflower Travel. She did such a great job planning and helping us on our first one that we returned for our second (and more down the road). We spent a week at Punta Cana Secrets Resort and Spa. During our stay we ate a wide array of scrumptious food, explored the beach, enjoyed time in the lazy river (and various pools), and watched the sunrise every single day. It was rejuvenating and just what we needed! Thank you, Dana!

Fantastic experience: We used Dana as our travel agent for our honeymoon and she did a great job! She helped suggest things to do, places to eat and kept us up to date along the way. We will use her again and recommend her!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic agency. I got in contact with Ms. Bobbi Hansen at Sunflower Travel, and she put together a trip to Greece that other travel agencies wouldn’t even attempt to do for us! Other agencies told me “they couldn’t handle that type of trip”. She worked with me until we had the exact trip that I wanted. I had lots of questions, and Bobbi would respond via email very promptly (sometimes even on weekends!) with an answer to all of them - very patient with my inexperience! When things were misconstrued through email, she agreed to phone calls as well! She even responded very quickly when our flight was momentarily cancelled on the way home from Greece. The trip was great- polite people, on-time private transfers and ferries, wonderful hotels, etc. I know some of that is out of their hands, but some of those small things made such a difference! Highly recommend and plan to use them in the future. 2nd Experience: Trip to Switzerland and Italy I dealt with Ms. Bobbi Hansen again for a trip to Zurich and Venice. She made everything so easy and worked hard to tailor everything to our needs. When we had a snag with the Viator excursion company (outside of Sunflower Travel’s control) Bobbi graciously answered my email on a Saturday and fixed the issue immediately for us. I can’t say enough great things. I will use her and her company again!!

Fantastic experience: We used Dana to book our 10 year anniversary to Jamaica. She was able to get us what we wanted below our price range. The resort was great! We didn't have any trouble during our trip so we didn't need to reach out, but I have confidence that if I needed assistance they would have been there. Thanks for a great trip and we look forward to planning our next vacation soon.

Fantastic experience: I scheduled a trip through Angie for a Fall Foliage Tour with Trafalgar tour group. Angie, with Sunflower Travel was excellent to work with. She answered all my questions, made great trip arrangements for us and followed up with us after our trip. Trafalgar tour group is Aldo great. We got to see so many places everyday and they made each experience so meaningful. We visited Boston, New Hampshire, and Maine. Every stop in each city was a rewarding time, whether we learned history in Boston or Acadia National Park in Maine. I highly recommend each company for your travel needs.

Fantastic experience: My daughter and I just returned from a 12 day trip to Paris and London. We worked with Angie and she was just fantastic. This was my first time out of the country and so had multitudes of questions and concerns. From the very beginning, Angie helped us work through all the options from a group tour all the way to going totally independently. We chose a middle option and Angie asked just the right questions to help us decide on places to experience and even how we wished to experience them. She made arrangements/reservations for some tours and transportation while we left some free days between the scheduled days to explore the cities. It was a wonderful, smooth trip and would most certainly contact Angie for future trips !

Negative experience: They arranged cruise in Alaska. Service lacking. Delayed/Late/Non-existent communication regarding steps needed to prepare for trip. Flight arrangements were too tight to make connection; I personally would not book flights so close together; flights missed due to tight connection & no support from Sunflower Travel as we worked through rearranging flights. ADA service arrangements very poor: the airline was not prepared, as Sunflower made poor arrangements. Heather (travel agent) does not listen to client needs & is difficult to contact for support & questions. Poorly organized trip. Sorry about going to the extra expense in using this agent. Not worth it at all!! Use a different travel agency or plan on your own. Service sub-standard. I would NOT recommend!

Fantastic experience: We worked with Heather and had a great experience with an international trip to the UK. She was helpful and patient and detailed in her information. She curated a perfect trip for us based on general information and was able to help us select hotels in great locations, book flights, trains, and facilitate car services. Heather worked closely with our budget and was able to help us get the most bang for our bucks. I appreciate that she was very detailed with all the details! She left us voicemails and emails. We also appreciated the assistance in obtaining a refund from a company that cancelled a recent tour and offered us new travel dates which we could not meet. We will be going back to Sunflower Travel!

Negative experience: Save your time and frustration book on Expedia! 1st time traveling abroad so we figured best choice was to use a travel agent. Boy were we wrong! Started the process in June , took well over a week for an agent to get back with us. Then we tried to book one spot and gave the agent our budget. Agent talked us in to another location needless to say that fell through as well.then agent tried to talk us into another location (mind you this was almost 2 month process) and that's when we had enough and asked for a refund. We were told it would be 5 days for the refund (actually took 9 days). This was the most frustrating experience ever , communication was horrible,agent was rarely available to speak with. Don't do it use an online travel site. We ended up using Expedia, saved 4 grand and got an extra day added. Can't imagine what we would have saved had we just done that in the 1st place.

Fantastic experience: I do not typically give reviews, but my experience to this point has been nothing but impressive, so I decided to share. Rachel and her group have done an amazing job! My first call to Sunflower was a request to plan a surprise wedding in the Dominican Republic, accompanied by a group totaling 16 people. Rachel jumped right in to help me line out all the details, and made the planning process simple, fun, and quick. She laid out multiple options for every aspect of the trip, and was always available to help answer any questions I had. After the destination, timing, and travel arrangements were complete, she then lined us up with an onsite wedding planner to help finalize all the onsite details. Rachel has continued to send notifications and reminders to us for all aspects of this trip, and has remained responsive and available to everyone in our group. I am beyond pleased with the level of support received from Rachel and her team, we will definitely be reaching back out to Sunflower for any future travel. He was very responsive, tailored everything to our needs/wants, and even provided us a quick response when we needed something during our trip. In times like these (with COVID!) anything can happen, and it was reassuring that he was just a phone call away. He made our experience 10x better with a stress-free experience and provided us with all the necessary insurances to be able to travel to Costa Rica. Fantastic experience: We have traveled to Niagara Falls and Universal Studios for family vacations and are so thankful for the help of our travel agent. She knew details to plan for on each trip and that made all the difference. We didn’t have to worry about anything- just enjoy the adventures with our kids. Looking forward to our next one!
