Fantastic experience: The sled dog discovery tour was the highlight of our trip to Alaska! Getting to ride in the sled with working dogs, then getting to meet them was so cool. And of course, everyone loved snuggling the puppies. My kids were totally enthralled and my 12 year old son is ready to move to Alaska to work with dogs. We loved it!

Fantastic experience: The two guides and our pilot on our 3 1/2 hr tour (taken on 9/27/24) were outstanding! They were professional, knowledgeable, enthusiastic. It was my favorite excursion on my Alaskan trip. It was an amazing experience!

Fantastic experience: AMAZING!!! This was a highlight of our trip. My first helicopter flight and it was worth the wait. The staff made us feel safe and secure and treated us with care. The pilot was very knowledgeable and happy to take lots of photos of us walking on the glacier and by the helicopter. I can’t recommend this company enough.

Fantastic experience: The crew of Chris, Brock and Morgan were outstanding! Had a great time on the ship and the crew was excellent. Saw a 1/2 dozen whales, well their tails anyway. Family had a great time and happy we went.

Fantastic experience: Great kayaking tour and helicopter tours!! We had an amazing time on the kayaking eco tour! Our guides were excellent and we got to see bald eagles, sea lions and the incredible beauty of the area. We were with our adult children and we have all kayaked before but the guides gave great instruction. The length of the tour was perfect and they offered us delicious local snacks after the tour. They picked us up and dropped us off at our cruise ship dock and all of the employees were very friendly and professional. We highly recommend this tour! Highlight of our time in Alaska! The helicopter tour and landing on the glacier was by far the highlight of our cruise to Alaska! It was incredible to see the scenery on the way to the glacier and to be able to land on the glacier and walk around in such pristine and unique beauty was just amazing. Our pilot and tour guide was amazing and gave us such a great experience. The other staff were also very friendly and professional. They picked us up at our cruise ship dock and brought us back with no issues. It was the perfect length of time for the tour. They provide the boots to walk on the glacier, but we brought warm clothing and it was very comfortable. We would highly recommend this tour!

Fantastic experience: We took an Alaskan cruise in June, and we booked a Glacier helicopter tour for our port call in Juneau. It was amazing and one of the best tours we took on the whole trip. Alaska Shore Tours were easy to book and work with. Communication was excellent and the description of the tour was exactly as it was. We flew right to the top of the Mendenhall Glacier and then landed with plenty of time to walk around and take photos. The pilot was friendly and a pleasure to fly with. Boots with short spikes were provided for grip on the glacier as well. I can confidently recommend Alaska Shore Tours for any of the amazing tours they offer.

Fantastic experience: Three superb tours We booked three tours offered by Alaska Shore Tours, the 5 Glacier Seaplane Exploration in Juneau, the Whale Watching at Icy Strait Point and the Dog Sledding and Musher's Camp in Skagway while traversing the Inside Passage with Oceania Cruises. First, these tours were all much better value than the (identical) tours offered by our cruise ship, which is definitely a point in Alaska Shore Tours' favour. Second, all three of the tours were our favourites of the whole cruise. The seaplane tour of the glaciers was awesome - literally awe-inspiring. From above, the scale and majesty of the glaciers, their colours and shadows all make a huge, never-to-be-forgotten impression. Our pilot was a gas. He said to my friend who had grabbed the co-pilot's seat up front that he only had a slight hangover today as he veered away from the face of the mountain but we think (hope!) he was joking. Our whale watching trip in Icy Strait Point was equally awesome. The two young women who led the tour were so enthusiastic about the whales and Brie, our pilot, clearly knew just how the whales behaved as she managed to predict where they would appear next. Once, we saw, just 30 metres or so away, a pod of eight or nine whales all breaching the surface in a pre-determined circle as they fed on the fish they had herded together - magic! Finally, our Sled Dog and Musher's Camp tour was equally memorable. The dogs were so excited to see us arrive - they couldn't wait to get going and when we were installed in the sleds and they took off, boy did they move! Once we had arrived back at the start point, we had a chance to pet the dogs and they couldn't get enough loving! One of our dogs saw me approach and he just rolled over on his back, saying 'go on, tickle my tummy!' All this was crowned by a very informative talk by a young member of staff and the chance to cuddle a three-month-old puppy. As dog-lovers, my wife and I were in seventh heaven! All in all, three superb tours, and the administration side of Alaska Shore Tours was equally impressive. Emails were promptly answered, we were met where we were told to meet and at the right time, the small hiccough over paying for the tours (my original card did not go through) was sorted out promptly and efficiently. I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic Experience!! Our August 5 excursion was sunny and beautiful. We saw a humpback whale. Our guide was really excellent . . . knowledgeable, experienced and dedicated. I highly recommend this tour!

Fantastic experience: Best Whale Watching Tour Ever! The crew showed us everything: Before getting to the whales, we saw a bear with two cubs and a pair of sea otters. We saw whales - lots of whales with a calf. Then a pod of orcas showed up, causing the mother whale and another to warn the orcas away - breaching and slapping the water. The orcas did move away from the whales but they found a colony of sea lions - who went beserk.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend the Juneau Dog Sled Discovery! Everything was well organized and the tour guides were easy to find at Port. The ride up to the camp was full of additional knowledge and facts about Juneau and full of fun banter. The dog Sled itself was so much fun and being able to spend time with the dog team and the puppies was worth every penny! Additionally, learning about the history of dog sledding and enjoying hot chocolate around the fire was the perfect end to this tour. If you're even considering this excursion, do it! You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Humpbacks, Orcas & Eagles Oh My!! The best excursion ever! In Juneau! The guides were great, very informative & made it very memorable! We saw humpback whales, orcas, sea lions & 2 eagles on the way back! We couldn’t have asked for more! We even saw a bear & an eagle in a field on the way to excursion from cruise ship! It was GREAT!!

Fantastic experience: SIMPLY AMAZING! Don´t Leave Alaska Without Doing This! This is the only real way to visit the Glaciers in Alaska! Both the Sled Dog Ride and the Helicopter Ride were amazing! The staff and the people are super friendly, everything was as promised and on time. An incredible experience that I will remember forever! The pictures speak for themselves. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: We might have lucked into good weather and Alaska gets the credit for the breathtaking views, but all the credit for our phenomenal expedition and excellent experience goes to Alaska Shore tours. By far the coolest excursion we had on our 10 day Alaska cruise! I cannot highly recommend this trip enough. The trip leaders were so fun to be around. Not only were they knowledgeable about the area; they also were full of helpful concise instructions on our tasks. I loved this trip and will look back on it fondly for years to come. The views-- beyond words. They do not at all oversell it with their captivating description of glacial fjords, old growth forests, and wildflower fields. It was all that and more!

Positive experience: We did the Ketchikan Rainforest Canoe Adventure and Nature Trail on 08/31 with 5 adults and 2 kids and it was..... ok. The bus to the lake was an old school bus, clean and comfortable, but very bouncy. The driver was very chatty and had lots of stories and family friendly jokes. Not unpleasant. Was about a 40 minute ride to the lake. The lake was primitive, only porta pottys. No biggie. The lake itself was quite beautiful. Lovely scenery. Sadly, there was little to no visible wildlife. Canoe was stable, easy to paddle, and the docks were stable and safe. The guide was knowledgeable, but not chatty. We crossed the lake in about 20 minutes to another dock where there was a pavilion. We took the nature walk, which literally was about a 100 foot circle on a wooden boardwalk into the rainforest for about 10 minutes. We heard about some lichen and mushrooms. Back to the pavilion for the snack. The snack was delicious, there were smores for the kids. About 10 more minutes there for snack and then 15 minute canoe back to the starting point where we waited about 15 min for the bus for the 40 minute ride back to town. Altogether, 80 minutes on the bus, 35 minutes in the canoe, 15 minute walk, 10 minute snack, 15 minutes waiting. Beautiful scenery, no wildlife. Overall, was just an ok trip. Honestly, was kind of boring and not worth the price paid. Would have much rather taken a tour with more nature/wildlife opportunities. Our tour in Juneau was amazing.

Fantastic experience: Alaska Fishing: Cook Your Catch - Out of the 3 excursions we did on our trip this was by far our favorite. We had 3 children with us (ages 6, 12 and 18) and everyone had an amazing time. Reeled in Cod, Salmon and different types of Rockfish. Our guide was amazing and fun to be with. The lunch prepared was great for myself and my husband. Kids weren't real big on eating the fish, so you might want to bring something for them if they aren't really big fish eaters. Would highly recommend though if you love fishing.

Fantastic experience: We couldn't have asked for a better excursion in Skagway. The trip itself was outstanding with a train car just for Alaska Shore Tours. The scenery was breathtaking and very different from the regular train excursions. Very relaxed trip with a delicious lunch served in our car. The return trip from Carcross by bus was also interesting with our driver relating interesting facts and side notes along the way. So glad we chose Alaska Shore Tours!

Fantastic experience: Our guide Cade was the best! Of course all the other workers were pleasant and personable, but we had a great afternoon on the water with Cade. We were there on a sunny day, but they have rain gear for those there on rainy days. I think we would still enjoy the beauty on a rainy Alaskan day. The boats were fun and easy to drive and the scenery was incredible. Cade was knowledgeable of the area - we enjoyed his local take on things and his knowledge of being on the water in the area.

Fantastic experience: We were so lucky to see not only humpbacks but also orcas. Jimmy our naturalist was as excited as a kid on Christmas morning, he was also so informative. The entire crew from the boat captain to the bus driver (and I feel bad I forgot their names) were so friendly. Sadly it rained hard at Mendenhall, so that was a bit of a wash out, but it was still something to see. I would totally recommend this company and tour!

Fantastic experience: Having your own control of your own zodiac is a tremendous feeling. Peter the guide was sensational and he let you enjoy the incredible environment. We actually came pretty close to a whale. Will do this excursion again in a heartbeat if the opportunity arises again! Thx Peter you are THE BEST!

Fantastic experience: This excursion was amazing! Raymond was incredibly knowledgeable and was happy to share his insights with everyone along the trip. The scenery was gorgeous, nothing like anything I’ve ever seen! He provided plenty of stops so that we could get all of the pictures we wanted. He never rushed anyone. He even made an extra stop when we spotted a lot of mountain goats. The musher camp was so much fun, especially for my kids! This was the highlight of their week! We got to go on a dog sled ride and snuggle puppies! The lunch that was provided was very yummy! Plenty of more stops were provided on the way back for more photo ops (including Emerald Lake)! Fantastic experience: Amazing company! Everyone is so nice and helpful! We took 3 tours with this company during out weeklong Disney Cruise to Alaska. Each and every tour was amazing. Super organized, friendly staff, amazing experiences. I recommend this company whole-heartedly!! We truly cannot wait to return to Alaska and use them again!

Fantastic experience: Best Excursion in Skagway! I have done this excursion twice now and I have loved it each time! The staff is attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. There is so much to see and the views are exceptional. Getting to see Carcross and the Yukon Discovery really completes the tour. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for something to do with their time in Skagway!

Fantastic experience: Our tour was absolutely AMAZING! Jack was our tour guide and we had 8 individuals ranging in age from 13-76. Jack kept everyone engaged, and even promised a nap-which he delivered for most of the van! It is obvious that Jack enjoys his job and loves what he does, he made our day trip to Skagway memorable!

Fantastic experience: Anchorage Wildlife Excursion Our guide, Billy, was amazing! He was very knowledgeable, courteous and answered all our questions. I could tell he really wanted us to have a good time. He was enthusiastic, offered to take group pictures and at the wildlife center he continued to give us up-to-date animal info when he got it. I cannot give him or the excursion enough praise!!!

Fantastic experience: We had an amazing experience on the Helicopter Glacier Trek. The team was very knowledgable and very efficient. Alaska Shore Tours was great to work with. Everything was super smooth from pick up, to gearing up, to getting up to the glacier, to trekking, to dropping back off at the port. It was so cool to be up on the glacier and have this once in lifetime opportunity to be on it. I highly recommend checking out this experience!

Negative experience: Worst excursion company ever. Our tour had been cancelled because of thier overbooking just only few days before. The operator, Cara, was so irresponsible and dishonest, completely useless solving the situation. Try to avoid booking with this company if you don’t want to risk a sudden cancellation, as some others have experienced too.

Fantastic experience: Amazing. Watched 4 bears eating salmon! From the bus There is a short walk (5-10 mins max) and a long raised wooden viewing platform (200-300 meters) running alongside a river with a salmon hatchery on the other side. There was so much salmon /many already dead when we were there (mid August) the bears were dipping into the river and picking out fish then eating only the best bits of the salmon (the fish eggs) and leaving the rest. We barely moved but two hours went by very very quickly. We Didn’t want to leave. TAKE BINOCULARS for close up viewing. We were no more than 10 feet from the bears but the binoculars were really helpful at getting extreme closeups. I realise we were very lucky, but it was superb - especially people like us who live in countries with no bears.

Fantastic experience: WOW!!!!! Words cannot describe how much I loved the Guaranteed whale watching at Icy Straight Point. It was a dreary rainy day, I was bummed out, the tour was expensive for our group of 7 and I was worried about if we’d see anything through the fog. What followed was an hour of the most spectacular whale show of bubble feeding I could have dreamed of. Words cannot describe. The ride was smooth and comfortable despite the small craft advisory in place that day. The green gondola ride from the further doc where our shipped ported was quick and very enjoyable. Best money we spent on the cruise was seeing this tour. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Fantastic experience: We booked the Juneau Whale Watching tour and had Chris, Addie and Gavin as our crew. They were all fantastic! Addie especially was knowledgeable, funny and overall a great host! We saw tons of humpback whales - the captain managed to find them without getting too close for their safety. The transportation to the boat was seamless and the timing was exactly as indicated, so we had no worries about making it back to our cruise in time. A great local and professionally run company!

Fantastic experience: This company was a pleasure to deal with. I booked two tours with them rather than booking through the cruise line. They were responsive when I called or emailed with questions. Yukon Discovery in Skagway was amazing. In fact I would do this tour again. Whale watching in Juneau was great. My only concern with this tour was that we were not out on the water for the advertised 2 hours. Would recommend this company again.

Fantastic experience: 9 Years ago, we did a whale watching tour with the cruise ship we were on. The captain of that tour was complaining about how close other vessels were getting to the whales. So this year we decided to book independently from the cruises. Alaska Shore Tours were so easy to work with. I wish I could remember the names of the captain and his assistant, as they were great. Both very knowledgeable. They were constantly watching for whales, and took us close enough to get photos, but far enough away to respect the whales. Both of them were very knowledgeable and shared lots of facts in a way that was so easy to understand. It was so interesting to hear how all the vessels in the area were contacting each other if they spotted whales in different parts of the straights. The captain was aware that some of the children, and adults, were starting to get a little bored, so he took us to look at some seals that had made their home on a buoy in the area. Then we got the chance to go along the coastline to look for bears. Unfortunately, none out that day. I would highly recommend Alaska Shore Tours.

Fantastic experience: Wow - everything promised and more! What a fantastic tour! Started with our very friendly driver Cristy, telling us all about Juneau, then to our awesome helicopter pilot Lucas for amazing views and experiences on the glacier. The dogs - too many to list but all adorable, friendly and hard working - and our musher Kendra were all wonderful, creating such a memorable day! Thank you team. I will remember it forever.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I had a great Mendenhall Glacier hike with Alaska Shore Tours out of Juneau. The two guides (Kiana and Adam) were wonderful and the company overall is very organized. They provided ample and quality equipment. We had some people on our tour who literally never hiked before (whaaat?) and this is a challenging hike in spots, but both guides were very patient with them and helped them navigate some really tough spots. I would recommend to anyone reading this that if you have not hiked before or if you are not limber/sure-footed this hike is probably not for you. You will be pushed to your limit. For anyone who is a regular hiker and/or physically fit this will be a great hike for you with beautiful scenery. I would definitely do another excursion with Alaska Shore Tours.

Fantastic experience: Wow! Just wow! We had an amazing time on our Sled dog and Musher tour with Patrick as our leader on Wed May 15, 2024. Every staff member we met was fabulous and made us feel very welcome. Thank you for making the booking process very easy. From pick up to drop off the afternoon was a truly memorable one.

Fantastic experience: This tour was excellent! The staff when we arrived were helpful, kind, friendly, and answered questions. Our pilot was superb! I felt very comfortable in his hands. His focus on flying the helicopter was incredible. When we got to the glacier he talked to us and shared info. The booking of this tour was very organized! The van driver was also willing to go the extra mile too! Loved it!

Negative experience: We recently took a helicopter tour to a glacier with Alaska shore tours, and unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. First, our family was split up and placed in separate helicopters, which meant we couldn't share the experience together. Secondly, the time spent exploring the glacier itself felt rushed. We barely had enough time to take in the sights before we were ushered back to the helicopter. Lastly, the commentary from the pilots was inconsistent. While one pilot provided a running narration, the other pilot remained silent throughout the flight. When we asked the non-speaking pilot a question, he stated it was his first day. Overall, the disjointed experience and limited exploration time left us feeling disappointed. The cost was not worth the experience.

Fantastic experience: Dustin, Sam & Gavin were an awesome crew answering questions; spotting the whales. The boat was comfy, warm with plenty of outside viewing area above & below. At least 50’, 4-300HP engines for plenty of power. The day was more than successful! At least 7 whale tails, momma & calf lunge feeding, an array of whales spouting & the bonus of sea lions & sea otters. An outstanding trip & worth every penny!

Fantastic experience: Very impressed with Alaska Shore tours! We had a computer glitch and when we called the help line for help it was answered quickly! Even better CC helped us and she speaks perfect english! She was so nice and helpful. I just can't say enough good things about the EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE I received. She fixed our problem and even called me back to make sure I got her confirmation email. She is just the BEST!

Fantastic experience: My husband and I had an awesome time on the black bear and wildlife exploration tour. Our guide was wonderful and we saw more than 9 mama bears with cubs! It was a beautiful sunny day and we were fortunate enough to see the end of the salmon run as the bears were gorging themselves. Would do this tour again in a nanosecond!

Fantastic experience: Mendenhall Glacier Paddle & Trek - We had such a good time on this excursion. Provided with good quality clothing & equipment, a fantastic snack pack, and 2 superb knowledgeable guides. The kayak across the lake was fantastic & the views when we got round to Mendenhall were spectacular. It was so incredibly special. We'd originally booked another excursion but had to move to this one due to low numbers on our ours, but have to say, we're so glad we did this instead. We couldn't have had a better day. Thanks so much for the memories we'll treasure forever.

Fantastic experience: September 5, 2023 we took this tour, and it was by far the best one we took while on our cruise of Alaska. Mike was our guide and he shared a great wealth of knowledge and was very entertaining. We stopped at many places for pictures and he always offered to take our pictures. The scenery was beautiful and the lunch and museum were good too. I definitely would recommend this tour.

Fantastic experience: We visited Skagway on Sept. 7 and loved this excursion! From the bus driver, to the views, to the sled ride, to the puppies, we truly enjoyed every minute. The team was so friendly, and we learned a lot about sled dogs, and were given lots of time to hold the new pups, which our kids loved. Our kids were 12 and 3, and both enjoyed it. We absolutely would do it again!

Fantastic experience: We were not disappointed by this excursion! We knew we'd be charmed by the puppies (and we were), but we were all quite taken with the adult sled dogs. They were all eager for attention, and we would have happily stayed there petting them for hours. We enjoyed the sled ride through the muddy forest (wish we'd taken more care to cover up a little better with the plastic we were provided, but no biggie), and it was interesting to hear about the dogs, their training, and the history of the Iditarod. So glad this was on our list of activities...even better than seeing the beautiful scenery! Alaska Shore Tours was easy to work with, and the communication was excellent before our trip. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: We want to thank the entire team from the Alaska Shore Tours to the Juneau Sled Dog Discovery (Summer Camp). Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. A big thanks to Jessie and her team. Loved being able to meet and great every dog and the mile ride was smiles all around. Thanks for sharing one of the most important and timeless pieces of Alaskan history with us.

Fantastic experience: The Juneau Sled Dog Discovery was an amazing experience. We were picked up by the bus driver and he did a great job telling us about things around Juneau on our way to the sleds. When we got there, the guides walked us thru what to expect on our tour. The dogs were awesome, a little excited and ready to go. After our sledding thru the beautiful forest, we were able to meet and interact with all the dogs and then they let us hold the 10 week old puppies, while we drank our hot cocoa that was provided. Then they told us the history of dog sledding. Overall, I would definitely recommend the tour.

Fantastic experience: We chose to do the extended helicopter tour to Mendenhall glacier. We were picked up at the cruise port by northstar helicopter tour and took a short but scenic ride to the base. There we were met by friendly staff who helped us into climbing gear, rain gear, and safety gear. They kept all our belongings safe at base while we headed to the glacier. They reviewed safety about the helicopter before we departed. The pilot was experienced and gave us incredible views of the glacier on our way there and back! Once we landed on the glacier we met our guide James who was fabulous!! He reviewed walking on the glacier (uphill, downhill,etc) and taught us tons about the glacier itself.we went hiking around the glacier and stopped for fresh glacier waterfalls to fill our bottles with!! He gave us the opportunity to ice climb up about a 60ft ice wall which was an experience of a lifetime!!! James ensured we always get comfortable and safe with every thing we did. This was an excursion we were hesitant about due to cost but in the end after everything they provide and do for you and with you it’s almost not enough!!! We showed James some love for all his help and I’d say this is definitely an excursion you don’t want to miss!! Book it- you won’t regret it.

Fantastic experience: We had an amazing time! A truly once in a lifetime experience. Also, CC in the back office was a true champ. We had lots of questions and edits to our group reservation and I was so grateful and impressed with her help from beginning to end. The tour guides were extraordinary -- safe, fun, and had a ton of knowledge about the area, environment, and history to share! We loved it.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely an amazing experience!! It was a short ride from the cruise ship to the airport. Once there they outfitted us with boots that we wore over our shoes. They did have rain gear if needed but we had beautiful weather that day. We were a family of 6 and were all able to get in one helicopter. My mother is older with some issues walking and they helped her get in and out with no trouble. The pilot was great. He not only gave us information on what we were seeing but once we landed on the glacier he helped my mother walk all around to see a stream flowing and a under the ice water fall!! The ride was comfortable and an unforgettable experience. Would highly recommend

Fantastic experience: This trip was outstanding! First, I had anticipated being outside for the entire whale watching tour and the only time we were outside was when we stopped to observe the whales. There were several whales and we took multiple pictures and video of them. The tour operators were very knowledgeable and friendly. The bus driver to/from the port and then to Mendenhall glacier was very personable and we learned all about Juneau on our drive. We also saw a bear walking on the side of the road! I highly recommend this tour as it did not disappoint at all!!

Fantastic experience: This trip was a blast! It was interesting getting a little piece of something so important to Alaska. Meeting the dogs and seeing how well they are taken care of and just how much they love their job is inspiring. You can tell how much the staff and mushers love their job and care about the dogs. Spending time with the dogs after the ride was a blast, they love the attention. And who can forget about the puppies!! Would have spent the day if we could. Can't go to Alaska without taking a ride on a sled!

Fantastic experience: Jason did a great job directing our paddling crew-very informative as well. We were transported from the tram terminal (1/4 mile walk from cruise terminal) by a great driver and kept dry with the provided gear and boots. There was a snack and drinks provided after. Added bonus- we got to see salmon “running” and some bald eagles. Great way to experience Juneau for the first time. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: We did the ziplining in Juneau during our Alaskan Cruise. After being on a crowded cruise ship and busy ports this was the PERFECT way to get away from all the people and truly experience what Juneau, AK has to offer!! All the staff was so amazing and kind! We loved getting to know Claire who made the whole zipline experience that much better! Only thing we wish is that the experience could have lasted longer!!! The mountain and clean, fresh air cannot be beat!!

Fantastic experience: I recently visited Alaska with my daughter and her family and we opted for this whale watching in mendenhall glacier tour because of the age of her children. From the time we arrived until we left, the crew and team members were outstanding and friendly. They were knowledgeable and answered questions. They were polite and respectful and wanted to be sure that we did see whales. We did have to reposition to see whales and we were successful. The mendenhall glacier tour was a great opportunity to see more magnificent countryside. The bus operators were knowledgeable, friendly, and great narrators about the region. If you're looking for something to do that won't break the bank. You can't go wrong booking here!

Fantastic experience: What an awesome excursion! My whole family enjoyed this great excursion. Right from the bus driver to the boat crew, including the captain and the two tour guides were all awesome. They were friendly, courteous, respectful, and knowledgeable. They made the entire excursion great for us. We saw a group of 8 whales swimming and literally performing around our boat. We had tons of opportunities to take photos and make videos. Then the latter part of the excursion, trip to Mendenhall glacier and the waterfall (forgetting the name) was enjoyable too. We purchased this excursion during our Alaska cruise, and I think it would be fair to say that this excursion was the highlight, the best part of our trip. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: We got lucky and ended up with a small group who mostly all could kayak well. Allegra, our guide, was so sweet and patient - answered a ton of questions we had and was generally just extremely pleasant. We saw several bald eagles and seals, and the glacier came in and out of the fog - albeit from quite a distance. Was a little expensive, but all in all we really enjoyed our trip. We had a lot of mist and some rain, and their gear helps keep you quite dry as long as you have a raincoat with you!

Fantastic experience: Aug 17, 2023 We booked this excursion on our own (not through cruise ship excursions) based upon reviews only as part of a Port experience on our recent Alaskan Cruise (Aug.13-20,2023). There was four of us that travelled together and took the tour on Aug 17, 2023. We would highly recommend this company and tour. The online booking process was so easy to use along with receiving automated notifications on when the payment was being processed. They only require a small deposit with option to cancel anytime in advance of 14 days before the tour. They were easy to find at port and timing worked very well. The crew on the whale watching portion was so personable and fun. We seen so many whales. It was hard to take any pictures because you were too busy watching these amazing mammals with binoculars. The vessel was in excellent condition and we felt completely at ease in the water. The second part of the tour to Mendenhall Glacier was equally as good. The bus driver was very personable and everything about timing was perfect. Highly recommend and Happy Whale Watching !!!!!

Fantastic experience: We were on the Celebrity Eclipse and just took this excursion yesterday with Ben and Elizabeth. I keep going back over each bear we spotted.  20....and Ben said that was the most he has ever seen on a tour over the past 2 years.  We were at 19 when we left the viewing area, but #20 walked across the path we were on between the raptor center and totem poles. This is a great tour.  We had also taken in back in 2021.

Fantastic experience: We had an Awesome day on the water with our guide Matt! The weather was Perfect! He was so knowledgeable about the area we were kayaking in. We saw Beautiful Sea Stars, an Eagle & a curious Deer but no whales or seals that day. When we returned, Rachel had a Yummy spread of salmon dip, veggies, fruit, cheeses, cold drinks or Alaskan Beer for us to enjoy! Perfect way to end a Perfect day!

Fantastic experience: Loved this tour! I've booked with this company twice now and they never disappoint. I'm always picked up on time and back to my ship without any issues. We were picked up right by the ships for the first part of our whale watching tour and taken to a dock where we got on our boat. It was a super smooth ride and the seating inside the cabins were very nice for some of the older people in our group. There's a bathroom on board as well if needed and the even provide snacks. The whale were so cool to see and the wonderful employees on board were very informative and engaging. The glacier was gorgeous but chilly once you get closer to it. I recommend layers so you can take them on and off depending on which part of the tour your on. Thank ya all so much! It was a blast.

Fantastic experience: We lucked out with the weather and had a wonderful time. Eric was very knowledgeable and so enthusiastic. It was obvious he loved sharing the beauty of Alaska with us. He was quick to point out interesting things. We loved the dog sledding and the dogs were great fun and enthusiastic. Food was very good and the whole area was well kept and lots of interesting things.

Fantastic experience: What a blast and honor to be able to take this tour while visiting Ketchikan. The guides and captain were not only incredibly friendly, but so well spoken with their "dad" jokes and the stories they told about their experiences on the sea over the years. The boat is very comfortable with some of the best and biggest bathrooms I have ever seen on a tour boat. Souvenirs, snacks and drinks are available for purchase as needed and they provided a small snack for us towards the end of the trip. Absolutely must do tour!! THANKS guys!!

Fantastic experience: Really impressive tour. The Whale watching started slowly but we managed to pick up a number of humpback whales and watched for 15-20 minutes. A bit of a barren spell lead to a change of plan by the Captain who advised that he was on a mission. A speedy ride and suddenly we were alone in the ocean watching 4 Orcas. Fantastic experience especially as we had them to ourselves for some time before other boats arrived. Super crew and thanks for the memories. On to Mendenhall Glacier which also exceeded expectations. Lovely area with many easy trails which gave many different perspectives on the area. The trip to the Waterfall was a treat. Up close and personal to a living Glacier - awesome.

Fantastic experience: The Bering Sea Crab Fisherman’s tour was informative and entertaining. Booking with Alaska Shore Tours was very easy and we did not have far to go for our tour as they picked us up right by our cruise ship. Our afternoon tour was not crowded and we had plenty of room to walk around. Enjoyed some delicious King Crab on board and enjoyed learning all about the Aleutian Ballad and Annette Island. We spotted some Eagles, Seals, and held a Box Crab, and witnessed a tribal fishing boat in action!

Fantastic experience: We booked the mushers dog sledding tour after reading many reviews and the online advertisement. There are many dogsledding tours to choose from but this one looked the most promising. Now that we have completed the tour I can honestly say it is even more fun and impressive than you would think. Even the bus ride out to the grounds was fun and entertaining. The views were beautiful, and our tour guide (John?) was hilarious and very, very informative. We honestly enjoyed ourselves from the moment we sat down in the vehicle, all the way until he dropped us back off near the port. Even walking from the vehicle to the dog sledding grounds was fun. There were other tours happening with horseback riding, and then you walk over a little bridge where you can see salmon swimming around in the water , it was breathtaking and super fun. Then we got to the facilities where they do the dog training and it was top notch. I was expecting a run down dirty location since it was for dog training but actually it's super cute and classy. I wish that we had more time because we would've liked to have explored the shops. The Unimog truck that you drive up to the sledding location in is so cool and that is a ride in itself. You ride up this really steep hill and it honestly feels like you're on a roller coaster, it's so fun! Very unexpected! Then of course there's the dogs! You obviously must love dogs if you choose this tour and you certainly will not be disappointed. The dogs are so cute and fun and they obviously love what they do. You get to go on a ride on a small cart. It was just our family of four and another couple plus the two drivers . The dogs get super into it! Wait until you go around the curve, the dogs think they're driving a race car! Then you get to ride back down the mountain again, which was fun and go meet the puppies. We all enjoyed meeting the puppies and learning about the gear and how these dogs are trained to do what they do. Very very fun, would definitely recommend to anyone to visiting Skagway. We were nervous about booking directly through the tour company, rather than using our cruise line, but it went perfectly no issues at all. It was clear that everyone working for this tour company cared very much that we were satisfied and made sure that we had an excellent time. Bring your camera and wear something cute because there's a beautiful viewing point where they will take a picture of your family with your cruise ship in the background. Go ahead and book this, you won't regret it!

Fantastic experience: For sea kayaking in Ketchikan: We had the best time on this tour! We were picked up right by the cruise ship dock and really enjoyed the boat ride out there, the waters were a bit rough but our captain, Devin, was great. Once we arrived to the boat with the kayaks we were able to put on their wet gear, which I highly recommend. Ketchikan rains A LOT so it was great to be able to have our clothes dry after kayaking. The kayak tour guide, Caity, was very knowledgeable and told us all about the local wildlife. We got to see sea stars, bald eagles, and a sea lion. After kayaking you get a local Alaskan beer (or water) and some salmon dips that were delicious! Could not recommend this tour more.

Fantastic experience: We loved everything about this excursion! We actually live in Juneau for the summer & decided this was the one excursion that we couldn't pass up (we are dog lovers!). I have so much better of an understanding of the sport & so much more appreciation for it. The dogs were great! Highly recommend -- who doesn't love to spend a couple hours with dogs?

Fantastic experience: We did the Zodiac Boating in Ketchikan and had a rad time (in the words of our guide, Clementine)! It was such a unique experience that we were driving our own boats in Alaskan along the shores of islands. We saw bald eagles but no whales- our guide let us know that beginning of August isn’t the time of year they typically see whales there as they have already passed through earlier in the season to go up to northern waters. It was a little confusing in town as the drivers sign said Zodiac Boatman Tour so my feedback would just be to make sure the names match and that they weren’t holding a yellow paddle in the air. Highly recommend this company!

Fantastic experience: This was by far our favorite tour of the whole trip. Leah was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable, personable and made our experience unforgettable. This tour does require a decent level of physical fitness and we would caution anyone to make sure their endurance is up to the task. Only disappointment is that we could no longer get to the glacier due to the accelerated retreat but even that didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of this hike.

Fantastic experience: Simply amazing tour of Hebert Glacier in Juneau by helicopter. We are a family of 11 ranging in age from 68 to 5 years old. We were able to have two helicopters and were divided up by family and weight to balance the load of each. We were picked up by van at the end of the dock where our ship was and taken to the Juneau airport where we were all were all weighed and fitted with ice cleats that went over own shoes. We were then given safety instructions and boarded the two waiting helicopters. Since this was our first time for all of us being in a helicopter, we were a little nervous but that quickly went away as we took off so smoothly that you didn't feel any uneasiness. Our pilot Corey was excellent as we flew for about 20 minutes to the glacier. Once there Corey was able to fly us around different areas of the glacier so we could get an idea of the immense size and depth of the Hebert Glacier. We landed in a great spot as the second helicopter landed near us so our entire family was together as we got out and walked on the surface. We couldn't believe how deep blue the ice color was under the tiny streams of glacier water flowing near us. We had all brought collapsible cups with us so we could drink the pure water from the glacier. We were able to spend over 20 minutes on the glacier and during that time our daughter;s boyfriend got down on one knee and took out a ring and proposed to her. That was a special moment none of us will ever forget. After some great pictures including some taken by the pilots of our family we got back in the helicopters and headed back over the glacier and some mountains back to the airport. The van then drove us back to our ship. We highly recommend Coastal Helicopters which we did not book through the ship but did our homework and found they were by far the best choice. This was one of the best tours we decided to take and are so glad we did. The pictures attached gives you an idea but you must experience this tour for yourself to see how vast this glacier is.

Fantastic experience: The train ride exceeded expectations. We saw this train on Mighty Trains and our trip was sooo much more than the show. It was like traveling through a Christmas forest, great smells, and beautiful scenery!! A must do!!

We received text communication early the day of our scheduled excursion, and we were picked up promptly at our schedule time. The vessel is in immaculate condition, and has abundant unobstructed vantage points for viewing wildlife and scenery. The crew is very knowledgeable and carefully explain how to identify each Humpback that you encounter. We have a nine year old who is armed and ready with questions and Renee and Winston were more than prepared to respond with patience and full engagement. They truly are living their best life and it comes through in the execution and thoroughness of the tour. We would not hesitate to book this tour again, and highly recommend it to anyone who wants a completely unforgettable experience

Fantastic experience: This is a once in a lifetime experience. The views are amazing. The biking is so much fun and a little intimidating but, fight your way through it. It’s only nerve wracking the first few miles. Dani and Gabbi were amazing guides. You will have a blast. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

Fantastic experience: We booked this float trip and weren't really expecting too much. However, we were wrong. We had an awesome time with Kimball as our guide. There couldn't be a more perfect guide than Kimball. He definitely knows his stuff and is very entertaining as well. Alaska Shore Tours is lucky to have him. Great guide and great trip. We would absolutely do this tour again!

Fantastic experience: This tour is actually provided by a tour partner of Alaska Shore Tours - Liquid Alaska Tours, a tour provider that provides all of the equipment, food, transportation, and tour guides. Sarah and Ben were amazing and provided a ton of history while paddling away. This was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. Be prepared to work as you do paddle around 2-3 miles. There is a short walk to the glacier, where you can view it from around 50-100ft away. Due to recession of the glacier and how it currently sits, you are not able to walk on the glacier as it is not safe, or are you able to reach with the tall front face and on a canoe. Liquid Alaska provides all your gear - tall boots, gloves, full waterproof suit, wet bag to keep items dry and plenty of snacks. Be prepared to dress warm as it is colder on the lake. The best part was finishing off the trip with hot coco or cider!!! You need to book this experience.

Fantastic experience: This was such a peaceful and beautiful trip to see the glacier up close. Take your own phone and make sure it's in a waterproof case. I wore a hat, waterproof pants and rain jacket. It gets colder and windier near the glacier. Unless gloves are waterproof, don't wear them. They do provide wader pants and boots, but water can still get in. So, bring extra clothes and socks. Allegra was a really great guide! Would definitely recommend it!

Fantastic experience: We had an all day tour with our drive name Brad. A young man that was great tour guide. he should get a raise. We did the bud tour to the glacier and the train tour down through Yukon ( the bus ride about 3 hours and the train ride was about an hour and 1/2. While the scenery was great from the train there was not much of information about the area. there was a some beautiful scenery. But overall the trim ride was a bit to long especially without anybody talking or music playing. I would recommend to make the train a better experience they should put different types of sign or fake animals around the tracks so please can try to figure out how many things were out there. I did find out that there were 4 different animals statues - I did see a Sasquatch which was cool. sorry no picture. also includes the smallest desert stop. This was a long tour about 8 hours in total included lunch which was nice and petting zoo and got to see the dogs they use for sledding.

Fantastic experience: We booked the zodiac trip because we liked that it wasn’t part of the cruise line shore excursions and it was a smaller group. Laura (I believe was her name) was our guide and she was excellent. The boats were easy to drive for myself who is a boater (however, if you’ve never driven a boat before, the steering could take a few mins to get used to). We didn’t see a ton of wildlife but we didn’t care because we had so much fun going fast on our own boat through the waters of Ketchikan. Overall we highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to do something different other than the normal cruise excursions.

Fantastic experience: We did the helicopter and dog sledding. We had an awesome fun time. The helicopter isn’t as scary at all, for all the people that are afraid of getting on one. The helicopter ride was very smooth and we got to see glaciers as well. The dog sledding was very fun and had a lot of snow everywhere. It was beautiful. Thank you to all the staff for such a wonderful time!

Fantastic experience: The flight to the airboat dock and glacier was spectacular. Once aboard the airboat we were speeding along the face of the glacier for about 45 minutes, and at times it seemed like you could reach out and touch the glacier. Saw lots of bald eagles and a few seals. We landed on the glacier for a walkabout and we were even able to drink fresh glacier water. It was truly a spectacular excursion.

Fantastic experience: This is one tour not to miss. Everyone from the bus drivers to the boat crew members were excellent, informative, personable, and as excited as we were to spot the pods of whales leaping out of the sea. The visit to the Mendenhall glacier was a very sobering one due to the shrinkage of the glacier; lots of info in the visitors' center. I appreciate that the tour company gives back to nature conservation- this is a plus.

Fantastic experience: Skagway Sled Dog and Mushers Camp was fantastic. It’s a well oiled machine. Staffers are informative and amazing. Views are spectacular and the dogs are championship bred winners. What an incredible experience! Booked directly, not thru cruise ship.

Fantastic experience: This was the best tour of our trip and the weather was absolutley perfect!!! Sunny and low 60's. The company was ontime to pick us up at our ship and made sure we were back on time before the ship departed. The company provide all the necessary equipment needed for the day along with snacks. Dane was our tour guide and did a fabulous job with the history of the Glacier. The total 6 mile mile canoe trip (3 miles each way) was challenging but with 12 people on the canoe everyone does there part and takes turns with short breaks. The trek is about 1 mile each way from the beach up to about 100-200 yards of the Glacier. You cannot go right up to the Glacier anymore and touch it because of how much it has retreated in just a year or two but still worthy of getting as close as we did. It was a fun day and never felt rushed by Dane for pictures and filming. Highly recommend this tour!!!!

Fantastic experience: Amazing!! This was our most favorite tour that we experienced in Alaska! Captain Rich and his teammate delivered an incredible experience. We saw so many whales and were very lucky to witness 12 humpbacks bubble net feeding! We loved Sentinel Island Lighthouse. What a beautiful little island with gorgeous long range views! It was nice to have a small tour group of less than 20. The boat had plenty of room for everyone to comfortably view whales and other wildlife. At one point, we had 3 stellar sea lions swimming along with our boat as we slowly passed a buoy to get a closer look. Overall, this was a memorable experience for our family of 5. Our kids (14, 11, and 7) loved it! Highly recommend!!

The flight was smooth & the view was spectacular. The lodge and the people that run it are absolutely amazing. Fantastic experience: We were always apprehensive about the weather in Alaska this time of the year so our expectations were very low at the get go. Thankfully, weather gods smiled on us during the entire cruise trip. The Alaska Shore staff, right from pickup to dropoff, were extremely helpful, polite and accommodating. The helicopter staff were friendly as well. The dog owners do take care of the dogs humanely although, as a fellow dog-owner, it was a tad hard to watch the dogs drag us (and I am heavy) on the ice. They are super strong though. One of them jumped at me in excitement and I am still withering in pain repenting that I blocked his jump with my palm :-) Overall, a great experience for anyone.

Fantastic experience: This was an enjoyable day at our first port of call. Our guide, Forrest, was very knowledgeable and truly enjoys sharing the beauty of Alaska with his guests. Born and raised 4th generation in Ketchikan, he was able to share so much information and personal stories about the area as we paddled along. We saw sea stars, eagles, and many jumping salmon but unfortunately no whales. After the kayaking we had a lovely little snack of homemade fish dip, crackers and other assorted snacks and drinks waiting for us. That was a nice touch. Every employee who we spoke with on this excursion was very friendly and welcoming.
