Negative experience: They do not hold themselves responsible for the services of the vendors they sell for. You get a drafty room, that’s too bad, it’s not their problem. And what does the vendor say? “Take it up with the tour operator”. Nice job, if you can get it.

Fantastic experience: Just used this outfit to book a 1 week tour in Alaska in Aug 2024. What a great functional group. There are some logistics to travel and booking activities in Alaska. It was overwhelming. These guys made it happen and the price point was very competitive with doing everything myself. They worked out all the transitions from hotel to activities clearly, and the final itinerary was very detailed and clear. Somehow they were able to pack in a lot for a competitive price. Highly recommend. Would definitely use again

Negative experience: The only good portions of the trip were the transfer and the first two train rides. The hotels they booked were junk, none of the excursions they planned worked out, not their fault, but they don’t seem to have much knowledge of what to book or recommend. I had to give them ideas when things fell apart. Terrible customer service. Having them plan and book something will only cause headaches, it did for me. Better off just booking on your own. They bring zero benefit to logistics or anything else. Any problems you are on your own anyway. They overcharge for the “service” they charge, which is zero service. Also they blame you for their shortcomings. -The Owner response tells you everything you need to know about dealing with this company.

Fantastic experience: Alaska Tour and Travel did a great job of arranging my post-cruise Alaska tour. We did a 4-day Denali trip that included pick-up at the ship in Whittier, transportation to hotels and lodges, trains, an exciting Jetboat tour, a spectacular flightseeing trip, and a Tundra Wilderness Tour. They took care of every detail and worked with me to fine-tune our itinerary. The activities they planned were perfect! Their customer service staff is helpful and responsive. They answered more than their fair share of emails from me quickly and professionally. You won't regret using them to plan your Alaska vacation.

They really earned my trust when they alerted me to sub-par conditions at one of the hotels—giving me the chance to change locations and avoid disappointment. Fantastic experience: We planned a self-guided driving tour with Alaska Tour and Travel and we couldn't have been more pleased. We told them where we wanted to go and want we wanted to do and they did all the planning and booking for us for the rental car, hotels, and excursions. We followed the itinerary they gave us and everything worked out great! The heli-hiking tour in Palmer was the coolest thing we've ever done. We hope to visit Alaska again and we will definitely contact Alaska Tour and Travel.

Fantastic experience: HIGHLY recommend Alaska Tour and Travel! They made the planning of an extensive vacation so easy! You can pick from an ala carte list of activities and then they help you put it all together including hotels and transfers. The flow of the trip was perfect. The other thing we loved is that when traveling we felt like we were on our own private vacation and not being herded around with a large tour group. They also use excellent hotels and reputable tour companies. I can't say enough about the beautiful hotels they chose for us! Stunning lodges and perfect locations! If we go back to Alaska, I would use them again in a heartbeat!

Fantastic experience: We had a fantastic time, and our trip was seamless. All excursions were planned out, and adjusted ahead of booking if needed. All hotels and excursions were taken care of with one price paid in 2 parts before the trip. The only thing we had to worry about was food and drinks, tips for the event hosts, souvenirs, and that’s about it. Every event in our package was fantastic, and our reservations were all taken care of, the whole way. Loved the river rafting and the cruise to see the ocean glaciers and wildlife. You can’t go wrong with this travel company; every step is planned to the T if you want it to be. (Not part of our package so not in the survey review, but we also went on an ATV ride through areas in Talkeetna (Denise- Wilderness Trail ATV Rides) that was fun and informative talking with Denis about his homestead and encounters with wildlife. I just wanted to give that company a review since we did it off of our planned excursions.

Fantastic experience: This is our 3rd time using Alaska Tour & Travel and they have never disappointed! My husband and Father-In-Law traveled to Alaska using this group in 2015. The trip was a bucket list item and it was a great success. We had booked a family vacation in 2020, but the pandemic had other plans for us. Alaska Tour & Travel refunded every penny of our trip. We finally re-booked my dream vacation for July of 2024. You're able to build your trip on-line and send it to the company and then they send you back a quote. There were MANY different variations I tried, and they never missed a single response. We finally settled on our final trip and made our deposit. Ironically, the day we booked our vacation, Chicago was COLDER than Anchorage, Alaska! A week before our trip, the Riley wildfire broke out and I panicked. Denali National Park was closed. I waited a couple of days before calling Alaska Tour & Travel for the next steps. They told me that it was still too soon to make a decision and to hang in there. I did, but I was coming up with Plan B, C, and D in the meantime. Alaska Tour & Travel sent out communication about moving forward and a timeline. It looked like our trip was going to continue as planned, with a slight modification for the Railroad. Denali National Park re-opened on Wednesday, the train scheduled resumed normally and we arrived on Friday. Alaska Tour & Travel has phenomenal communication skills and the patience of the saints. They answered any and all my questions and helped to optimize our trip. They helped make my dream vacation a reality. Every mode of transportation, hotel, and excursion were flawless. Had I done this myself, I would have missed something. The itinerary they sent out was extremely detailed and walked us through every step of our vacation. We've been home for 5 days now and I look back on pictures and smile. They took all the stress out of our vacation. Look no further, Alaska Tour & Travel is the Gold Star of planning an Alaskan adventure!

Fantastic experience: We had a great train ride on the Wilderness Train Car from Anchorage to Fairbanks. Courtney is the very best at her job and was an amazing host full of incredible information about the areas we were seeing along the way. 12 hours on the train and the seats are so comfy our backs never hurt! The dome and service on this train car is highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: We did the Northbound Arctic 3-day adventure trip. This was outstanding and will have memories that last forever. That said, this trip is not for everyone. The 2-day trip up the Dalton Highway in a 10-passenger van is hard. The road is very rugged and the drive each day is about 10-12 hours. Would I recommend, absolutely, but make sure your expectations are aligned appropriately before you take on this high adventure trip.

Fantastic experience: A true high-performance service becomes visible when it comes to solving problems. Based on suggestions from Alaska Tour& Travel we booked a tour from Anchorage to Denali and back via Talkeetna, Anchorage to Seward. The whole journey by train and coupled with a few excursions. But then things happened differently. Due to forest fires, Denali Park was closed and the planned excursion could not take place. On the next day, it was so foggy that the planned glacier landing by plane was canceled. And last but not least, the train on our last leg of the journey was delayed by an expected 3 hours. All of this is of course beyond the control of Alaska Tour & Travel. However, in all of these cases, Alaska Tour & Travel representatives were immediately available to us or contacted us in advance. Together we found alternatives so that our Alaska tour was still a complete success. I would book with Alaska Tour & Travel again and again.

With their help and several “template” vacations on their website, we designed the perfect trip. This is a full service agency. They cover everything from cruises, to bus tours, rail trips, and driving excursions. As we have always enjoyed car travel, we selected one of their auto adventures, and found everything was first rate. The website presented many choices and you were free to customize as you wanted. It was incredibly detailed but very easy to use. After spending some time there, I really began to feel like I knew Alaska. I worked with all their staff during the process and found each one was professional and helpful. Together we put together the perfect vacation. When we were ready to book, they did all the leg work. All we had to do was travel to Alaska. Everything had been worked out. Detailed itineraries were emailed ahead. Important instructions were highlighted. This was the easiest vacation I had ever put together. Alaska Tour and Travel continued to be there throughout the trip, ready to assist if needed. At one point I had to reach out to them regarding a hotel issue. They had a solution within hours. Knowing they were watching over us allowed us to relax and enjoy the trip to its fullest. In the end the vacation was more than I ever hoped. We will definitely use them again the next time we travel to Alaska. I would highly recommend Alaska Tour and Travel to anyone considering a trip to that great state. You have nothing but quality here folks!

Negative experience: Do not use Alaska Tour and Travel. The excursions in Denali were average at best. I understand they have a job to do but it’s evident that they do not put the travelers best interest first.

Fantastic experience: We rented a car to drive from Anchorage to Seward before our cruise. We appreciated the flexibility the rental allowed us. We could stop along the way and take pics and eat. We wouldn’t have been able to do any of that had we taken the train. The drive was easy and beautiful. We had to be out of our airbnb before we could get on the ship, so we were able to store our luggage in the car while we explored Seward the day that the ship departed. It was very convenient. Also, the rental return was right next to the cruise terminal, so it was a breeze to return the car and then get to the ship.

Fantastic experience: We were able to customize our vacation to our needs. We toured from Anchorage to Denali to Seward and saw all the sights we wanted to see. We toured on trains, buses, boats, and shuttles with no complications. The entire trip was perfectly coordinated with no anxiety of missing connections. The hotels were all nice and in good locations. This tour company knows what they are doing! We couldn't be happier with our vacation!!

Fantastic experience: This a dream trip to Alaska for my four sons and me and it was absolutely AMAZING! Alaska Tour and Travel was a great place to start since they have access to all of Alaska and we did not have a firm itinerary. It was so nice to see a variety of itineraries as well as various modes of transportation. Previewing the variety of excursions and pricing permitted us to customize our Alaskan Adventure. The staff pulled together all of our itinerary and gave me one detailed bill which was most helpful. When I found a better price on the Flightseeing tour, they honored it without question. It was also nice to not have to mess with tickets as all the excursions and shuttles were under one reservation. They are awesome professionals and we will use them in the future.

Fantastic experience: I used this company to plan an Alaska itinerary following a northbound cruise that debarked in Whittier. We had well-coordinated connections, traveled by bus/motorcoach, train, and I have zero complaints. I would use this company again. It was nice to know that everything was taken care of and all of the connections matched up. They had a great menu of options and personalized the itinerary. They answered the phone with a live human when I had questions while we were on our trip and were able to answer them. The price was competitive compared to things marketed by the cruise line for similar Denali and train trips. 100% recommend doing the Kenai fjord wildlife Cruise, the fixed-wing glacier landing at Denali, and upgrade to the gold star dome on the train experiences. You will not regret the upgrades!

I would highly recommend using their services to take all the guess work out and have them make all the reservations for you. Alaska is beautiful!

Positive experience: We just returned from our 12 day Alaska vacation (the majority of which was planned by this travel agency). While Brittany was very nice during the planning phase, the travel agent should ask the level activity the traveler would like on their vacation. We felt like we just sat and looked at the beautiful scenery the majority of our trip. We're in our early 30s and prefered much more adventure/activity. The Exit Glacier naturalist hike planned for us was particularly disappointing. We specifically asked for a glacier adventure while planning this trip and felt this activity was misrepresented by the travel agency. We thought we would actually hike to the glacier not stop 100s of feet away from it. The whole hike was basically them showing us were the glacier used to be during certain points in history. The Kenai Fjords Cruise was disappointing too. They cut our tour short by multiple hours, we barely saw any wildlife (definitely no Orcas) and we didn't see any glaciers as promised. Our first hotel (The Denali Bluffs) was a disaster, we arrived after two long days of travel across the country and were given a dirty room that had not been cleaned since the last guest. (Dirty towels/sheets and empty bottles all in the room.) Called the front desk and was put on hold for a long time. All the staff seemed new/didnt know what to do. They eventually moved us another building to a clean room. Overall we were pretty disappointed with our first trip to Alaska. Absolutely beautiful state but we just sat and looked 90% of the trip. :(

Also, during our trip in Alaska, when we encountered an airline problem that delayed our luggage for several days, they went above and beyond their normal service to help us retrieve it from the Anchorage airport. Fantastic experience: Great tour-very organized. Got to see Seward, Anchorage, Talkeetna and Denali. All the transportation and hotels were included, enjoyed several train rides with amazing scenery. Went on a cruise to the glaciers in Seward. Took a flight through the mountains in Talkeetna. Hotels were good, most had convenient shuttles to the nearby towns to explore. Talkeetna Lodge had spectacular views of Denali. Enjoyed having time to explore at each stay on the tour.

Better prices for some hotels, plus access to booking Wilderness Express cars on the Denali Star route was a perk. Fantastic experience: My wife and I booked the Highlights of Alaska tour through Alaska Tour and Travel. This was our first trip to Alaska and our first time booking a trip through a smaller speciality travel agency; we were a little nervous because of these factors. We quickly found out there was no need for the nervousness as everything went flawless and exactly per our itinerary. All of our reservations and activities were exactly as documented and times were spot on. It was super easy to follow the itinerary and the locations were picked perfectly to eliminate any need for additional transit other than courtesy shuttles. As for the trip itself, it was absolutely amazing. Alaska is an amazing place with endless views and outdoor activities. Our package encompassed a nice selection of what was available for a week trip. I loved the customization of the booking process and wished we had looked at all of the different packages for even more ideas for customizing. Everyone at Alaska Tour and Travel we talked to or emailed was excellent to work with. We will go to Alaska again some day and will definitely go through Alaska tour and travel.

Fantastic experience: Everything went perfectly on our tour! We were kept busy and on time for all of our excursions. Our tour guide Megan was super organized and helpful, our bus driver T was friendly, kept us on time and is a great asset to the company. Megan was very informative and knowledgeable as well with any and all questions. It is not an easy task to keep everything so organized on these tours and everything went off without a hitch. We were able to swap out one activity for another easily. Any questions I had, they answered. They were actively responsive and super helpful. They were very helpful with all of my questions and put together a fantastic trip for us!! A few of our excursions had to be modified when we arrived at the location, due to weather. Fantastic experience: This was a smooth, easy experience. Our driver had the best commentary! It was interesting and informative and engaging and was such a great enhancement to SUCH a beautiful drive. The drive was smooth and timely and made the day very easy. The staff at the cruise terminal and at the airport that helped get us and our bags on and off the bus were very efficient and helpful. Before you book, they email you all the documents you could need and I never had to go searching for booking information. Would use again and would recommend!

Fantastic experience: Alaska Tour and Travel was phenomenal for our trip to Fairbanks. There service is exceptional. They booked us on the Riverboat Discovery and Gold Dredge 8 and we enjoyed both. They booked our trip on Alaska Railroad from Fairbanks to Anchorage, which went smoothly. I was most impressed that, if I sent an email with a request like changing tour dates and times, they would answer within a few hours EVEN ON THE WEEKEND! I had a whole chain all one weekend. I asked a ton of questions and they always gave clear and friendly responses. They have terrific customer service.

With the help of the travel agents, we created the perfect trip for us and were very pleased with the cost. All we had to do was show up at each place that we had booked and all of our information was there. We did not have to worry about carrying around tickets, confirmation numbers, or any other documentation. I would highly recommend using Alaska Tour and Travel if you are planning a trip to Alaska.

Fantastic experience: This was a perfect and beautiful way to get to Seward! The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. The views are 10/10. If you really want the best experience, make sure you don't wait to book so you can get in the GoldStar Dome car(s)! Adventure Class was still awesome, but I wish we had booked earlier to take advantage of the amenities and dome car views.

Fantastic experience: Don't hesitate on taking this train! The scenery was beautiful and there was flexibility to move about the train to get the perfect pictures. The narration is informative, but not overbearing. The staff was very quick to respond through email regarding questions I had before the trip. I would definitely use Alaska Tour and Travel again!
