Fantastic experience: Once in a lifetime trip with the fly in bear viewing trip. Flying in a seaplane to cook lake and then touring the lake on boat. Saw easily 30+ bears exploring the lake and hunting salmon. We visited mid-September which is apparently a good time to come. Our guide Badger was brilliant, lots a good stories and all around good guy. Thanks Alaska West Air for a great trip!

Fantastic experience: Great outfitter! We did a fly-out salmon trip to Wolverine Creek, with Flip as our guide. All of the staff was great, but Flip was absolutely AMAZING! I highly recommend requesting him, along with the meal he cooks for you!!

Fantastic experience: Brad the pilot was awesome! I was fortunate enough to sit in the co-pilot seat and it was an amazing experience. He talked me through a lot of the area, about the glaciers, spotted some wildlife for us on the plane. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: I recently went on a Bear Viewing Fly Out Trip with Alaska West Air to Crescent Lake in the Lake Clark National Park. Our guide was named Jake and he was the BEST guide of all time. Our group was 4 women and 2 kids (5 & 8) and we had the best time. Jake was amazing with the kids - I think he made this trip the best day of these kids lives. Bring lots of layers, water, and snacks - it was windy the day we went and it got cold if you weren't in the sun. They have hip waiters that you can borrow that I'd absolutely recommend doing that even though you are in a boat or on the beach most of the day. They also had kid's life jackets to borrow and a couple of kid hip waiters. We saw a sow and her new cub and 2 juvenile bears during our trip and our guide let us fish a little bit. You can do both bear viewing and fishing (it's the same price) but the guides like to know ahead of time. I had gone to Wolverine Creek earlier that week and must say, Lake Crescent is a much better view and is probably one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. The plane ride was a little bit bumpy due to wind, but it wasn't too bad once you got higher in elevation and I never felt unsafe once. These pilots fly these same routes day in and day out 4+ times a day, so it was pretty easy to trust them and I'm not the world's greatest flyer. I would absolutely go back to Crescent Lake with Alaska West Air.

Fantastic experience: Trip was 5 star just on the view alone. Pilot Brad was on point in and out of Cresent lake. Danny was our guide at the Lake. Caught our limit of Salmon in the alotted time. Cleaned and enjoyed our amazing views of the Alaskan mountain range. We saw several Bear. A mother and her cub. We saw a juvenile male as well looking for fish. The trip hit everything and more than we expected. I recommend the trip to anyone wanting to see the rugged country of Alaska from plane,boat,and shore of an amazing lake in Alaska. Kindly J Hille

Negative experience: I hate writing negative reviews! We called and booked a last minute bear viewing tour on the last day of our trip to Alaska. The young lady Grace I spoke with was very accommodating and got us scheduled for a 7:00am flight. We showed up and there was a weather delay and then our flight was cancelled. We were told to head back into the office for our refund and that’s when she told us they keep 10% for any weather cancellation. We explained that she knew we were leaving today and she just said that was their policy. I think we should have been told ahead of time of this cancellation policy. We wouldn’t recommend this company based on this policy.

Fantastic experience: We had a fantastic day of fishing and beat viewing yesterday! From Grace in the office to our guide Joshua, everyone was so accommodating and professional! Josh got us on sockeye salmon at Wolverine Creek ……. Side by side with 6-10 different bears over 4 hours! We saw them feeding, playing, fighting and swimming. National Geographic like photos!! And the fishing was spectacular!!

Fantastic experience: This was a great experience. The owner was checking to make sure everyone was happy with the trip. Tony was an awesome fishing guide with lot's of patience. Can't remember the pilots name but was very friendly and did a great job. I highly recommend.

Negative experience: *edited* This company received a lot of $ from us and will now be able to book the day we paid for and make double the profit. I'm sure they're good at what they do but if there's any chance you may not be able to go, do NOT book with them. They will show no mercy even if your circumstance are tough. Their only option was to credit us for the following year but due to difficult circumstances we will not have the finances for a trip like this next year which was explained to them but they did not care. Now they have $2600 of our money for free. I can understand keeping a deposit if someone doesn't have a reason but we have a legitimate problem preventing us from going on the trip. This has made finances really difficult which they also did not seem to care about. *** Unfortunately we booked a bear tour and then circumstances arose that have prevented us from going despite putting $2600 down. We've repeatedly reached out to the company to ask if they could have at least some mercy on us and refund some of it, especially given our current circumstances and the answer we get each time is "I'll have to talk to my boss who isn't here." We never hear back. So, if you can't afford to lose a deposit like that, go somewhere else. It's been frustrating and made a difficult life circumstance so much worse.

Fantastic experience: Duncan flew us over to Redoubt Bay Lodge and gave us the flight of a lifetime. Seriously, he took one route in and a different route out in order to show us more of the whole area, including glaciers! What an amazing, knowledgeable, and trustworthy pilot! I had a blast. Thank you, Duncan! And to Gracie, thank you for allowing me to hang out with Maisy at the front desk. What a gem she is! Gracie is the best person to greet guests! Miranda at the cafe made the best coffee and breakfast sandwich EVER. She was also part of this amazing trip we took. Everyone we connected with was stellar. Thank you one and all!!!!

Fantastic experience: This was my second adventure with Alaska West Air and it again did not disappoint! My dad and I went two days in August 2013 with Tony and had such a great time. My dad loved it so much, he and my mom went back several years in a row after that and had Badger as a guide. My partner and I had Daniel as a guide this time and again we had a blast. We saw bears (which was super awesome) and lots of beautiful scenery. Daniel was really helpful to everyone in our group. I highly recommend Tony, Badger, and Daniel, as well as everyone at Alaska West Air! Service is excellent and the experiences of breathtaking scenery and adventure will stay with you! Can't wait to come back again!

Fantastic experience: Our group flew to crescent lake,it was an adventure of a lifetime. From our pilots taking us close to glaciers and our guide Josh putting us on fish, viewing brown bears on the beach with us. The views are stunning and we highly recommend this trip. Fantastic experience: We did a fly in and fish through AWA in July 2023. It was the highlight of our trip. Both pilots (Nate and Brad) we're fun, personable and knowledgeable. They pointed out glaciers, moose and volcanoes. The ride was smooth and landings perfect. We dropped a party in wolverine Creek and then continued to lake Clark national parks crescent lake. Josh then took is fishing for sockeyes and Dolly vardens. We had an absolute blast and he was an awesome guide. We limited out on salmon. We saw brown bears and eagles. Totally worth the money. They had a nice gift store and snack shop onsite as well .

Fantastic experience: Hands down the best fly over I’ve ever had! Josh and Bradley were the two best fishing guides a tourist group could ask for. We felt as if we made new friends and made new memories that we won’t ever forget! 20/10 would highly recommend these two professionals.

Fantastic experience: My fiancé and I splurged and decided to do the bear viewing and fishing for our last full day in Alaska (our first time here). It was incredible! Alaska West Air was recommended by a friend who used them less than a week before so we reached out last minute and thankfully spots were available. Flip was our guide and his passion for what he does along with making sure his passengers have a good experience is everything you could want. He was amazing! Highly recommend him as your guide! We saw so many bears and caught our limit of fish quickly. We lucked out with great weather. On the way back I guess you usually fly over the glacier but the weather going out was starting to get bad so we skipped that. Bummer but also happy that they value our safety over anything else. This was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend using Alaska West Air

Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of flying with Alaska West Air via a fly-in fishing package with Jimmie Jack’s Fishing and this trip was truly exceptional. Duncan was our pilot and he made flying the DHC-2 Beaver look like a walk in the park. The scenery was phenomenal and it was a nice comfortable flight across the Inlet to the fishing spot. Everyone at the lodge who did the fly-in was also talking about what an incredible experience it was. I’d recommend this trip to anyone, any day.

Fantastic experience: These people are wonderful! I had a last minute emergency when I had to find somebody to fly me to Kalgin island to pick up my dog and fly us back. These people were very accommodating and understanding while everybody else I contacted blew me off. West Alaska Air fit me on one of their already scheduled flights in that direction and didn’t even charge me full price which I was totally willing to pay. Thank you so much you guys! You are the best! My doggy and I are back home safely and it would not be the case without you.

Fantastic experience: What a fun flight to go fish and sight see!!! The staff was great and friendly! There were no high speed dog fights, so if you are looking for that "top gun" experience this isn't the place. Maybe if you tip them enough they will let you shoot slingshots at other planes, but I'm not sure. Can't hurt to ask though. But they were amazing. Downside, you can't capture a bear and take it on the plane ride with you.

Fantastic experience: Nate was our pilot for a field work trip out to Vogel lake, and we was absolutely phenomenal. Could not happier with the service. He got us out there and picked us up as planned, but he went above and beyond (quite literally:-) to answer all the questions I had, since it was my first time on a float plane. Thanks so much Nate for letting me be your copilot, and for the awesome experience and incredible memories- one of the coolest things I did while I was here!!

Fantastic experience: Went on fly in fishing and bear viewing trip Big River Lake. Our Pilot Brad and guide Frank were great and very knowledgeable. We were able to get great close up photos of a boar grizzly and also a sow with 3 cubs fishing. A wonderful Alaska experience!

Positive experience: Our pilot was great! Our fishing guide was a lot of talk, but was scatterbrained. We caught 4 salmon among 6 people, while everyone around us we're catching limits. He wasted a lot of time.

Fantastic experience: We had such an amazing time and even met new friends! We were flown to Big River Lake then taken out into smaller parties on boats to find bears. Within the first 5 minutes we came upon a mother and her 3 cubs who were swimming and looking for food. We were out there for 6ish hours and saw several bears up close. The scenery was beautiful, the bears were amazing and we were even blessed with the notorious Alaskan rain so we had a full and immersive experience!

Fantastic experience: My family got Brad as our guide and had the best time in our trip to Alaska. The plane ride was smooth and fun, I was very surprised at how smooth the landing was. I saw a bear and two moose while flying. We caught our limit of fish and then went bear watching. We saw a mamma bear with her two cubs, a few bald eagles and a seal. Brad took us to a lodge where we bought beer and merch and he dried our coats out for us. I would give this a 6/5 if I could.

Float plane into the lake fishing for sockeye and the bears gave a great show have a great video of mom fishing and yelling at the 3 cubs about 15 foot away! Our guide Josh was totaly the best and super cool to hang with our pilot was amazing gotta see the glacier after the outstanding fishing. Thiw is a must do

Our pilot, Brad, takes his job very seriously and safety is their #1 priority. Will definitely be flying with them again next time I am in Alaska! M

Fantastic experience: I had a moose hunt with these folks this past September 2020. I ended up having a successful hunt. They went all out to make sure I ended up being successful. I felt like they really cared that I was successful and were willing to do anything they could. I will use them again in the near future. I would recommend them to anyone. They were all just genuinely good folks. I really enjoyed this experience.

Fantastic experience: We have done a Sockeye (Red) fly out for the last two years around the first week of July. Each time has been incredible; it’s worth every penny!! The pilots are amazing, and the guides work their tails off - with a smile. This year was the best year yet, our guide “Badger” was amazing. Early in the morning, the fishing was a little slow for us, but all around people were catching fish. Our guide kept us having a good attitude and moved us around until our boat found the “mojo”. We absolutely SLAYED!!! The poor guide worked his tail off for us, with a big smile and a cheerful attitude all morning. This outfit is truly wonderful. Alaska West Air - you’ve found lifetime customers in us!

Fantastic experience: Took my son to Alaska for some quality father and son time. This was our fly-out excursion and it was fantastic! Plane trip views were unbelievable, Alaska right. Caught our fish, saw some bears, then flew over the glacier. All in all, friggin AWESOME!!!

Fantastic experience: Note- My trip was in July 2019 Had the most amazing time and it was by far the highlight of my AK trip. We were initially supposed to go out but due to inclement weather, we were grounded. I'm glad they stress safety first and its not just about making money. Once rescheduled, I had a great experience thanks to my guide Luke! He was very knowledgeable and took me to some ideal spots to photograph bears and other wildlife. Once I had enough footage, we went fishing and as you can see from the photos, it was a good one! Absolutely beautiful time. Already planning to return again. Can't wait!

Positive experience: It was very foggy and we could hardly see anything...the boat hit something in the water and it threw my wife and I against the gas cans before we came to a stop. Despite that hiccup, the trip was fantastic...lots of eagles, bears and sockeyes. This is a great group and i would come back here!

Negative experience: We fished here 2 days first day was great helpful guide friendly, in fact we liked it so much we spent $2000 to come back and fish in 2 days . We requested our same guide (Joel) instead got Tony , Tony was like a drill Sargent in the army , wouldn’t let me change lures after an hour of no catching , told my friends they were acting like babies , we caught 1 fish . So if you go, do NOT take Tony as your guide , if he’s in a bad mood you’ll have wasted your valuable vacation time and $500. First bad review I’ve ever posted but we’ll deserved

Fantastic experience: Great guides who fly out to multiple locations such as Wolverine Creek, Big Lakes, and Chinitna Bay. Big arsenal of aircraft and timely flights.

Negative experience: The guide was a nice guy but not the best guide, had us use old bait the entire time, it didn’t even attract fish, had us walking back to the boat anytime we needed bait. Terrible trip.

Fantastic experience: Flew into Big River Lake using AWA. Flight was comfortable and the views were incredible. Our pilot was friendly and played great music during our flight.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic fishing the scenery was beautiful, very cautious and knowledgable. When a bear tries to get your fish, they really know what to do. Jole was very, very nice, the plane rides we're very smooth. And sitting in the co-pilot seat was a chance of a life time. And service was great
