Fantastic experience: The cruise was fun, great way to just piddle away an hour or 2. I may try to get back for their cigar night. As far as I’m concerned, it was worth the money.

Fantastic experience: Such a fun, relaxing experience. We did the lunchtime picnic cruise and would highly recommend it. We left right on time, Charlie and Captain Jim made us feel safe and welcome. They did just enough talking to keep it interesting while still allowing time to take in the nature. Lunch was delicious and more than we could finish. A sandwich, chips, crackers, cookies and pop. You can bring a small cooler with your own beverages, too. Definitely an enjoyable experience!

Fantastic experience: Beautiful trip down the Maumee (Toledo). The Sandpiper was a wonderful ride! The waterfront was interesting. Our outbound leg stopped at Lake Erie, and headed back to the National Museum of the Great Lakes. Very enjoyable, bring Water and snacks though. Of course haul away your trash! #rvgminc

The music was good.. and byob was nice to be allowed to bring.. The ride was calm and not choppy or wavy. We were really satisfied.. Will book again..

Negative experience: We took a sunset cruise where dinner was provided. The overall experience was not great. The pizza was cold and the drinks were hot and not offered until later. Music was so loud to visit with friends. Couldn’t understand the tour guide. Overall not worth the $90 for two of us.

Fantastic experience: I thoroughly enjoyed the cruise in the Maumee River. I was able to see so much including the eagles! Definitely will do this again in the future. Very nice crew and they had cider coffee and donuts.

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful cruise we had yesterday! Had no idea how cool the Maumee River is since we're an hour and a half north in Michigan. Mate Katy and Captain Gus were extremely pleasant to talk to, very courteous and professional. We definitely will be back.

Positive experience: We went on a Toledo Spirits sponsored booze cruise and it was a lot of fun. The boat itself is a bit underwhelming, more a barge than a boat proper, but it was fine for what it was. The only recommendation I'd make is to take the life jackets out for cleaning - some had bird droppings hanging from them over passengers heads. That being said, the Captain and First Mate were friendly, knowledgeable, inviting, and everything you could hope for when set out to sea (ok, down the river). The ship ran well and we got some great views down the Mighty Maumee River. We did a 2 hour tour which I feel was just the right amount of time. They do have a variety of other tours available and I think the night time sunset one might be pretty nifty. The boat capacity is 100 guests. I think we had in the 60's and that felt 'about right' to me. 100 would be pushing it. Maybe with kids it could work but I think our size was just right. I would go on this boat and cruise, again!

Fantastic experience: Wow Amazing lots to see and learn!! If you have never experienced it you better. By day you see and hear about history and by dawn an amazing light show. For $30 a wonderful evening fulfilled with pizza water or soda. You are also encouraged to byob and have a great time. Music was fantastic!!?

Fantastic experience: We booked a river Cruise to see the glass city river wall mural. I'm so glad we did. It was a nice relaxing ride and we got plenty of time for taking pictures of the wall! Plus the crew was great

Positive experience: Aside from the major safety hazard where my friend fell in a hole on the boat that shoukd have been shut. . .had a great time. Wish boat supplied cups and ice. But it was fun. Reccomend with caution.

Positive experience: My husband and I took our 3 1/2 year old granddaughter who was visiting from out of state on the Family Dinner Cruise. You do need to bring your our picnic dinner, as described as nothing is provided. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The crew operating the boat were very nice, as were other passengers but the ride was 2 hours and after an hour it became boring. This was because you cruise one side of the Maumee River and the boat turns around and you see the other side of what you just saw. I had to take my granddaughter to the restroom and it could use some work on cleaning. The boat is not that impressive but it was a pleasant Friday night option for a family outing because it was a beautiful evening weather-wise. Some passengers we spoke to were repeat customers but we decided it was not a cruise we would do again but we would like to try other excursions by this company.

The captain and his grand daughter were so nice and funny, it really made the cruise even more enjoyable. Very relaxing and fun to be on the water! I will advise anyone who is going to wear Lots of coats hats gloves and bring a whole blanket LOL. But really, it’s the perfect opportunity to snuggle up, relax, eat on the water and just enjoy the views! The captain even lets you go up top to visit, he’s seriously the best! I highly recommend and cannot wait to try it out next summer too!

Fantastic experience: It was a great, smooth cruise out to the lighthouse. Staff was very informative.

Positive experience: It was a nice experience. My wife and I attended the lunch outing. The crew were very professional and nice. The Sandpiper was good for a site seeing trip, though the restrooms were a bit rough. The trip goes upstream for about six miles and mostly you'll see a mix of woods, grain industrial buildings and some nice homes. The box lunch was decent and served. Good amount of drinks available on board. I had hoped for maybe some more local history being told and maybe a bit more about the local wildlife. If you have a mid day open, I would recommend the trip.

Fantastic experience: Best way to see the country's LARGEST MURAL! Beautiful photo ops with an engaging knowledgeable fascinating guide. The captain was very friendly and did not mind conversing to passengers about any and everything! A must if in Toledo!

Positive experience: Nice morning cruise on the Maumee River. The boat staff were nice and cordial. The large mural was very nice. I would have preferred going past the downtown area with more to see. My fault I guess, for not doing more research.

Fantastic experience: I came on the Sandpiper with a group of adult students from Sylvania School's English as a Second Language class. This trip was the highlight of our schoolyear! Captains Paul and Amanda and First Mate Katie were amazing hosts! We're already looking forward to next year's cruise!

Negative experience: Staff was rude and disrespectful

Negative experience: I called days in advanced and asked if they did wedding ceremony and reception on their boat. I told the lady my date and the number of guest I was expecting. She quoted me a price which was sounded reasonable. I live over 120 miles away. We were trying to enjoy family and friends on a wedding boat experience. We drove up to view the boat and was highly disappointed ☹️ . It was not the jet express it was the glass pearl. This boat had no seating for 75 guest including rounds and chairs. It was benches around the small boat. The top could only hold max 27ppl without chairs. No tables could be place inside the boat..no eating area and no head table to accommodate the bride and the groom. This was false advisement and wasted my oil, gas and mileage. If they new this boat or the sandpiper couldn't accommodate a wedding venue it shouldn't have been advised on Google "wedding venues"

Negative experience: My young family did the cruise on July 2nd for Toledo's downtown fireworks aboard the "Pearl". The ship should be named the "Failboat". The good stuff: - The view of the fireworks was spectacular (though very similar views could've been attained for FAR less time, money, and discomfort) - The view of the banks of the Maumee River were nice during the cruise - Free water and soda - The boat didn't sink The bad stuff: (Most of the below items would've been fine if communicated in advance) - Advertised as a "dinner cruise" that started at 6:30 sharp. We waited till 6:40 so 2 late people could arrive, all while the people who could only get a seat on the west side of the ship baked in the sun. - There was ZERO safety / security briefing. No idea what to do in an emergency. No idea where life jackets are if needed. This is horrific to me. Totally unprofessional. - All seating was hardwood, most of which was around the outside of the boat. I'm 5'10 and the seats were so high and narrow that they cut into my hamstrings and were impossible to get comfortable on. - We initially sailed west, but trains prevented the bridge from opening, so after waiting for about 10 minutes, we just turned around. What if we had gotten stuck on the other side of the tracks? - The bathrooms did not have running water, and thus, no way of washing hands. There was very cheap hand-sanitizer. - I would assume dinner would be served no later than 7:30. It was served at 9:00. This almost single-handedly ruined the entire experience since my whole family and everyone else aboard were all hangry. By this time, everyone had germ-infested hands and no way to wash them. We were served Marco's pizza to be eaten with our unclean hands. The food ran out. - It was a dog-eat-dog environment for everything! Best views, best seats, best food, etc. Most passengers had standing room only for the fireworks. - When we arrived at our fireworks location, they pulled into position instead of turning around first to face our departure direction. This means that after the fireworks, they had to turn the ship around in the dark since they didn't do it when they still had daylight. So we had to wait for most other boats to clear out before we could sail back to port and disembark. I'm no sailor, so maybe there's a reason they couldn't turn around as soon as we got to our viewing spot. Conclusion: - The entire evening was a physical and social discomfort with some fireworks at the end. All for the low low price of $80 per person. - My family will never do this again. We recommend to buy your own favorite pizza, leave a couple hours early, and get a good seat by the river bank. You can save your $80 and a couple hours of discomfort.

Fantastic experience: Amazing! I will be back.

Positive experience: Took a nice lunch river tour with my girlfriend and had a really nice time. Lunch was provided, though it was a simple box from a local deli (sandwich, chips, cookies and crackers) plus a cooler fill of iced waters and soft drinks. The tour lasted 2 hours and the guides pointed out many places of interest along the way, telling us stories and historical facts for each. At one point we were all invited to the upper deck so that we could get a better view. The captain was very nice, just chatting us up with some casual conversation while we were up there. It was a nice relaxing way to see Toledo from a different POV. We had a good time together and would consider one of their other boat tours in the future.

Fantastic experience: Brought a group of friends and we all had a great time. Love the information given by the crew and that was a great addition. Beautiful weather and scenery and lots of opportunities for photo ops. Makes you really appreciate the Fantastic City we live in.

Positive experience: I invited my brother and sister in a law on the Sat 10 cruise July 30. Our Captain (Hook, I don't recall his name) was very kind and funny. He and Caitlin made the cruise both fun and interesting! A lovely cruise!

Fantastic experience: Sandpiper Monday Mural Cruise I read the pervious review just before our Sandpiper Monday Mural Cruise and was worried. Our cruise was as advertised, a 1hr cruise to see the new mural. FYI, J&M is donating 1/2 of the proceeds of each tour to help finish the mural!! We had a much different experience and maybe that is because we had a different boat. -They let you load 15 min before cruise time. - We parked in the ProMedica garage after 5:00, it was a $5 charge when we left at 6:30 - We departed on time - The first thing they told us is where the life jackets were for kids and adults, all in plain site - The seating was on a padded bench - There were bathrooms, did not use them - The PA system worked fine, it’s a typical PA system - It is a 15 min cruise to the mural - Don’t worry about which side you are on, the boat spent about 25 min at the mural and they turn the boat from side to side so everyone can get a perfect view. Enjoy

Positive experience: Went for the fireworks on the night tour around the forth, they had pizza and drinks ! Was all around fun, except I wish they would have sprayed the boat down and got the literal thousands of spiders off first.
